Overview

Mara Intrepids Camp recreates the romance and charm of the old safari experience. The camp is located in a peaceful setting, shaded by large trees and spread out along Talek riverbank. Early in the morning, before morning game drives, you wake to tea and coffee served in your tent. During the day you can venture out on game drives or relax on a sun-bed around the swimming pool.

The safari experience at Mara Intrepids Camp is a unique game-viewing adventure. It includes three daily game drives (early morning, mid-morning and late afternoon) with experienced guides and educational outings with the Adventurers' Club accompanied by the camp's resident naturalist. Cultural trips to neighbouring Maasai villages - where Mara supports several community development projects - can also be arranged for you.

The camp is fenced so you and your children can walk about safely and has welcome 'extras' like Wi-Fi and pre-dinner slideshow talks by a wildlife expert.

Rooms

Standard Tent

Mara Intrepids Camp consists of 30 tents, spread over the riverside site, and arranged in four distinct clusters, which creates a more secluded safari experience. Family tents and triple-bed suites are available.

The tents are spacious, comfortable, and handsomely furnished with African mahogany furniture and oversized 4-poster beds. Each room has a private raised platform with views over the river, and an en suite bathroom with shower, hot-and-cold running water and a flush toilet.

Facilities

The high thatched roofs and polished wooden floors of the main lounge area create a cool, breezy area to relax, as does the extensive wooden deck where many meals are taken alfresco.

The well-stocked bar is an excellent place for a sundowner drink or an after dinner night-cap. Keep cool on African afternoons in the camp’s refreshing swimming pool. Before dinner, enjoy a talk by the resident expert or perhaps Maasai dancing.

Modern conveniences include Wi-Fi Internet access, credit-card facilities, a generator for power and boilers for hot water.

Dining

Mara Intrepids Camp serves classic, home-cooked cuisine with imaginative flair. Enjoy meals and drinks on the large dining terrace beside the free-form swimming pool, or gaze out over the plains from the game-viewing platform with a refreshing drink in hand.

For a more intimate dining experience, the lodge offers small riverfront dining areas with private catering. Alternatively, you can get closer to nature with a champagne bush breakfast or dinner.
