Overview of Marataba Safari Lodge

Marataba is situated in the Marakele National Park – a private concession offering excellent Big 5 viewing in a totally malaria-free area of Limpopo – making this the perfect destination for a family-friendly safari getaway. Inspired by the discovery of ancient ruins, the lodge has been constructed from stone, with large glass windows that let the natural light in and provide beautiful views of the surrounding area.

Cool off in the sparkling swimming pool or enjoy a refreshing cocktail in the bar while you admire the view. Relax in the lounge and read a book from the library or take in the spectacular view from The Wallow. The area offers excellent Big 5 viewing as well as great bird viewing that can be enjoyed on morning and afternoon game drives or guided nature walks.

Luxury Tented Suite

Marataba offers accommodation in luxurious tented suites constructed from canvas, timber and stone. Each of the en suite tents is exquisitely furnished and has its own private viewing deck, air conditioning, and an outdoor shower.

    The four hour car ride gave our grandsons a chance to see city and country roads with the ease of a professional driver. Marataba was everything you would want on a safari trip. Beautiful, expansive views and comfortable common spaces. Our tent, really a suite, was a cool refuge after being out looking for animals. We saw plenty of animals and our guide, Wikus, was so knowledgeable about animal behaviour. The food was superior and the staff always accommodating. We would return to Marataba without question.

    Marataba was amazing and they did a stunning job with the food. Everyone ate safe, healthy food to their liking. Meg did a fabulous job of cooking allergy free and vegetarian/vegan food for our family. The food was delicious and creative. Gerald was a fabulous guide. Not only did he find amazing animals for us and take us on a wonderful boat safari, but he also taught us all about rocks and termites and tons of other bush animals. We had a FABULOUS trip and would come again and again and send family and friends there.
