Mwiba Lodge
Ultra-private Mwiba Lodge is nestled discreetly among gigantic boulders overlooking a rocky gorge of the Arugusinyai River, in a private reserve in the southern Serengeti. Studded with coral and acacia trees, this fertile landscape has over 30 freshwater springs passing through it, making it a favourite locale for elephant, kudu and lion.
A symphony of rock, wood, canvas and thatch, Mwiba Lodge has been designed to blend perfectly with the natural surrounds of the gorge. Exquisite interiors enhance the stunning views, the food and service are sublime, and game drives, safari walks and special bush excursions for children consistently deliver fantastic wildlife encounters. During the calving season in the southern Serengeti (December to April), you are witness to the incredible spectacle of thousands upon thousands of wildebeest and their young, a time when there is an abundance of fresh grass available to provide the essential grazing for the next phase of their migration.
With the ideal blend of in-room spa treatments, fascinating cultural outings (e.g. walking with the Hadzabe or Datoga tribe interactions) and incredible wildlife experiences, Mwiba Lodge offers a premier safari destination that will appeal to discerning travellers. The Mwiba concession has a number of natural springs that attract an abundance of plains game and predators alike, especially during the calving season of the annual Wildebeest Migration from about January to March.

Mwiba Lodge was the best place I have ever stayed in! It was a very private and customised experience.
Our trip was starting to transform to the highest levels experienced and was just astounding @ Mwiba. Incredible safaris, walking and driving with Bryson and Raymond. Incredibly knowledgeable, incredibly immersive. Bush walks in driving rainstorms back to camp, not wanting to hop back in the jeep, because we were having so much fun. Falling in love all over again with our East Africa Experience.
Serengeti was outstanding in every way – giraffes, elephants, cheetah Kill, amazing amount of wildlife in the migration. WE WERE INSIDE THE MIGRATION!! Bush Breakfasts in the MIGRATION. Just an amazing journey with our friends at MWIBA. HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP TO DATE. Bryson is planning on visiting and staying with us this Fall in the US.
Vincent our personal attendant, was amazing. What a lovely, lovely man. We became wonderful friends with Vincent. He made our stay at Mwiba absolutely incredible. Personal attention, private dining from Wine Cellar and rock escarpments was just incredible.
Vincent and staff were simply outstanding. Made great friends with everyone.
The profoundness of where we were (animals we’d seen) and the friends we had made on this journey was reaching new heights. MWIBA is OUTSTANDING in every way. The gold standard to date. Legendary Expeditions (Lodges) was taking our safari experience to a whole new level. Flat out amazing job by their teams.
Aside from the incredible scenery, service, food and the exclusivity of private game drives, what blew me away was the experiences. From the rare forage walk with the recently discovered Hadzabe tribe to the breathtakingly gorgeous helicopter flights.
Ending the safari part at Mwiba Lodge was perfect with a walking safari with the bush people (Hadza) as one of the great memories from the trip.
