Nkwali Camp lies in an area of ebony woodland just outside the legendary South Luangwa National Park. The area offers some of the best game viewing in the region: elephants can frequently be spotted crossing the river and the park is well-known for leopard, hippo and giraffe sightings.
The combination of a bird list of some 400 species plus guides with specialised birding skills make Nkwali an excellent choice for birdwatchers. Set off into the park on a walking safari accompanied by your guide and an armed scout for an up-close view of nature. Game viewing by open 4X4 vehicles also takes place each morning and afternoon and exciting night drives in the park are also possible. A seasonal highlight is to skim through the waterways in search of wildlife in one of the lodge's three swamp boats.
The camp has been designed to accommodate families on safari. Children may be included on family game drives, or may be left at camp under the close supervision of trained staff. A range of activities are available for children including fun quizzes and puzzles as well as trips to Kawaza school to meet Zambian children.
