Overview

North Island Okavango is a charming luxury tented camp located on a private island in Botswana’s top safari destination, the Okavango Delta. Boasting majestic views of glistening lagoons, floodplains, open savanna and woodlands, this intimate camp is where comfort and luxury meet classic African safari adventure.

Experience the famous Delta region in 4 ways: on land, on water, on foot and in the air. Classic game drives in an open 4x4 safari vehicle makes for great game viewing of the abundant wildlife – which includes big cats, buffalo, wild dog, zebra, antelope and elephant. Take to the lily-filled channels on a traditional mokoro (canoe) safari and boat meanders – an activity which can be enjoyed year-round at North Island Okavango. Explore the rolling plains of the Delta by tracking animals on foot during guided walking safaris in the mornings or afternoons. Or take to the skies and see the natural wonders from a bird’s-eye view when on a hot-air balloon safari or scenic helicopter flight.

Stay in spacious, under-canvas tents that inspire tranquillity and relaxation in a visually stunning natural setting. After exploring the Delta, unwind with a dip in your private plunge pool before drying off on the sunken sundeck. Spend your evenings dining on delicious meals prepared with the freshest ingredients, before taking your nightcap out to the campfire.

Rooms

Twin Room

Spacious tented suites sit on raised wooden decks under the shady boughs of wild ebony trees, blending exceptional comfort, style and luxury into one. Each tent is styled by bold shapes, textures and contemporary African-inspired design that gives it a unique flair only captured by the most luxurious of architecture. Yet, in addition to its savoir-faire, North Island Okavango’s tented suites still manage to provide a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere that makes each room homey.

Suites come fitted with stunning views of the lagoon that can be viewed while soaking in the private plunge pool or from the sunken sundeck. If you’re visiting in the hotter months, each bed features an ‘over-the-bed’ cooling system, while a cosy fireplace warms up the space in winter. En-suite bathrooms have a bathtub and shower, with an outdoor shower available as well. Wi-Fi and battery charging facilities are available in the suites only.

Facilities

Time at the camp can be spent working up a sweat in the outdoor gym or unwinding with a good book in the library. The lounge in the main area overlooks a lagoon that is filled with hippos and is known to attract wildlife to its banks – perfect for an impromptu armchair safari. And at night, after a delicious dinner, follow the wooden deck toward the crackling firepit, where you can stargaze under the clear African sky.

Dining

Hearty, flavourful dishes are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and can be enjoyed in the dining area – a trendy, chic under-canvas setting that makes each meal a stylish affair.
