Situated within a precinct of heritage buildings along the main road leading to Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, the Queen Victoria Hotel is a luxurious haven and the perfect place from which to experience the Mother City in style. Ideal for those who enjoy a sophisticated holiday that is a little removed from the crowds, this boutique hotel sits in a quiet road, but still within walking distance of the V&A Waterfront’s attractions.
Ideally located, the Queen Victoria is also only a short drive from Table Mountain, the city centre, and the many excellent beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay. Walk to the Sanctuary Spa right next door while enjoying a host of fine-dining restaurant, art galleries and boutiques virtually on your doorstep.

Dining
Dash is the Queen Victoria’s in-house restaurant and bar, and gets its name from the late queen’s of England’s favourite pet spaniel. You can look forward to sophisticated fine dining and a menu that is structured around classic French cuisine. The chefs make wonderful use of seasonal ingredients and all items are sourced locally – except for the high-grade caviar. Most of the furniture found in the restaurant were sourced from local designers and you can decide to sit either inside or out on the veranda, either way enjoying an intimate, delicious meal.

The location of the Queen Victoria Hotel is off the Portswood Road and sits above the V&A Waterfront, just outside of the hustle and bustle.
The hotel is modern with minimalist decor – dark wall, stark white floors and large paintings of the flora of Cape Town. Only 35 rooms, it makes it a smaller, more boutique style of accommodation. There are Premium and Deluxe Rooms which are classified based on their view of the mountain. Deluxe Rooms don’t necessarily have mountain views – they face towards Bo-Kaap, Sea Point and the harbour. Premium Rooms have mountain views.
The Table Mountain Junior Suite has a lovely outdoor lounge with views of the harbour and mountain. Very large and spacious.
Would recommend for couples and those who don’t want a big hotel, but equally don’t want a little B&B.

The Queen Victoria Hotel was a pleasant surprise. Overlooking the Alfred Basin and the latter part of the V&A Waterfront, this property to is everything you’d hope a luxury hotel situated at the Waterfront to be. Black-and-white marble floors with lush palms greet you in the lobby as you’re welcomed by their professional staff. Friendly waiters made for a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in the dining and bar areas. Beautiful, spacious bedroom suites with stunning views of the mountain (request a Premium Mountain-Facing Room) and breath-taking bathroom spaces were what impressed me the most. It’s a splurge but worth it if you consider its location and opulent touches.
