Rooms

Junior Suite

The Hotel Riu Palace Zanzibar offers you its Junior Suites for an unforgettable stay. These 45-m2 rooms have a queen-size bed (180x200 cm), a sofa in the lounge area, satellite TV, air conditioning, an electric kettle, a safe, and a balcony or terrace.

Facilities

After a sumptuous buffet breakfast, spend the morning exploring the spectacular coral reefs in the bay on diving or snorkelling expeditions. You could also try your hand at kite surfing on Zanzibar's spice-scented breeze - the resort hosts a kite surfing school. Lunch could be taken in the cool shade of a palm tree at one of the resort's beach bars.

Riu Palace's spa offers private pampering, beauty and wellness treatments and you are welcome to join a yoga class or head for the Health Club for a state-of-the-art workout.

The Kids' Club offers professionally organised activities to take care of your children while you relax or explore during the day; night-time babysitters available at an extra cost.

If you are the mood for an adventure, your Africa Safari Expert can easily arrange tours and excursions across Zanzibar. Visit the cultural heart of the island - the World Heritage Site of Stone Town - or the ruins of Persian baths and Omani palaces further afield. Other excursions include hikes through the Jozani Forest Reserve or gentler strolls through the local botanical gardens.

Dining

Rui Palace's award-winning chefs serve up exquisite international cuisine and guests are spoilt with a choice of restaurants, cafés and bars. For fabulous indoor or alfresco dining, the main Aqua Restaurant serves lavish buffets with tables piled high with local fare ranging from tropical fruit and vegetables to pizzas, pastas and succulent seafood pulled straight from the sea. Try to experience one of the ever-popular themed buffets, served by the pool under a starry night sky.

Dine on the freshest sushi and sashimi at the sophisticated Ishi-Teppanyaki and watch professional sushi chefs prepare your meal with expert skill and genuine passion.

Hearty diners will relish a meal from Carnivores & More, specialising in local meat dishes cooked over glowing coals. Crocodile, ostrich and springbok can be found on the menu along with seafood and vegetarian dishes.

For something less formal, retreat to one of the beach bars. Enjoy lunch in Robinson Crusoe-style at the Makuti Beach Bar or a Zanzibar afternoon tea next to the pool at the Sunset Bar. And at the end of the day, sink into comfy couches with a cocktail to watch the setting sun from the convivial Horizon Terrace Cigar & Shisha Lounge.

Our stay in Hideaway of Nungwi was excellent. It was our second time there (first in 2014, when the resort was almost brand new). All the staff is amazing, friendly and always happy to support, you always feel so welcome! Accommodation is still great and very comfortable. Restaurants and bars service is still awesome, the food is great in every meal. In summary, Hideaway of Nungwi is still an awesome place to go and have a relaxing 5-star break!
