Overview of Serian Camp – The Original

Kenya, Masai Mara

Located in what is considered by some to be the prettiest campsite in Masai Mara, Serian The Original is a classic safari camp ideally suited to travellers who want to make the most of their African adventure. Because the emphasis is firmly on the spectacular wildlife found in the private Mara North Conservancy in which Serian The Original is positioned, you will have exclusive use of your own 4×4, top-notch guiding and game drives on demand.

Because it only has six tents and a single family room, Serian The Original maintains a friendly, intimate atmosphere where you can also enjoy all-day hiking in the 2 000ha exclusive-use area, night drives until 11pm and interesting photography workshops to make the most of the exciting scenes unfolding around you. Fly-camping (spending the night out in the wildberness in a simple dome tent) can be arranged once you arrive.

Big cat viewing is excellent year-round, while Wildebeest Migration viewing is best from July to October (which is also peak safari season). If its adorable baby animals you want, visit from November to May during Green Season.

Standard Tent

Serian (The Original) comprises six large tents with soft double beds and en suite ‘bush bathrooms' featuring running water, flush loos, showers and hand-carved bathtubs.

The communal mess tent, which comprises a cosy lounge and dining area, is adjoined by a vast deck with expansive views of the Mara River. Gather here for pre-dinner drinks each evening and share stories of the day's thrilling adventures and sightings.

Serian The Original specialises in fresh farmhouse food, made from locally sourced ingredients. Picnic lunches can be enjoyed out in the bush on game drives but dinner is a slightly more formal affair taken either in the mess tent or alfresco under the star-studded skies – an irrefutable highlight of the Serian experience.
