Serian's Serengeti Lamai
Situated in the open plains of the game-rich Lamai Wedge of the Serengeti, Serian’s Serengeti Lamai is perfectly located to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration when the herds are in the area between mid-June and mid-November. Though game viewing is incredible outside of this time too.
With nearly two million animals on the move during the migration, the spectacle is awe-inspiring and the camp offers you front-row seats to the most dramatic of all Migration chapters: the heart-stopping river crossings. Braving crocodile-infested waters, the wildebeest and zebra herds move across over the river in search of fresh grazing and the result is some of the most vivid and exciting game viewing in the world, albeit not for the faint-hearted!
An intimate camp with only ten tents and a relaxed, family atmosphere, Serian's Serengeti Lamai sits close to the Mara River in the Lamai Wedge, a wildlife-rich pocket in the northern Serengeti with a reputation for excellent game viewing. It is a classic Out of Africa landscape – gently rolling grassy savannah studded with thorn trees – and home to abundant resident animals including all the big predators like lion, cheetah, leopard, spotted hyena and, of course, massive crocodiles.
The camp has electricity and all the necessary comforts you could want, including an en suite bathroom as part of your generously sized and well-appointed tent. Activities focus on morning and afternoon game drives with an expert guide and sharp-eyed tracker. There is also the chance to go on exciting ‘fly-camping' safaris: hike through the Serengeti and spend a night out in the wilderness – truly, the stuff of dreams for safari lovers.

Set under a shady tree, each of the tents at Serian's Serengeti Lamai is a well-crafted haven of style and serenity. Decorated in a traditional safari style, the Meru tents are large enough to walk around in and complete with a large double bed, floor rugs, tables, chairs and 24-hour electric light. Each tent has a small lounge area with comfortable seating and its own bathroom, complete with a flushing toilet and hot-water bucket shower.
Two of the tents can be combined to create an ideal accommodation for families with children: one tent is for parents, the other for two kids. A third child can be accommodated in the lounge area that joins the two suites.
The camp's central mess tent serves as a meeting and socialising area; filled with comfortable armchairs and sofas, it houses the ‘help-yourself' bar and is just a short distance away from the fire pit where you can relive the day's adventures around an agreeable fire and cold drinks.
The camp has a generator to supply electricity, enabling you to recharge batteries and electrical devices, and you also have the advantage of a complimentary laundry service. There is no Wi-Fi available, so you can truly unplug.

The cuisine at Serian’s Serengeti Lamai is described as ‘farmhouse fresh' and makes use of locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. Expect a fusion of different styles – Continental, Asian and African – accompanied by salads and freshly baked bread, all served on handsomely laid tables under starched white linen.
Meals are enjoyed communally in the mess tent or – more usually – outside if the weather allows it. You may also find a surprise or two like perhaps a cooked breakfast away from camp or a candle-lit dinner in a dry river bed. Couples who wish for a private meal may ask for supper to be served in their suite.
