Overview of Singita Pamushana Lodge

Zimbabwe, Gonarezhou & Malilangwe

Sharing its southern boundary with Gonarezhou National Park, exclusive Singita Pamushana Lodge is situated within the 130 000-acre private Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in south-eastern Zimbabwe. It comprises six flamboyant African suites and one villa built high on the cliff-side under a canopy of trees affording gorgeous views of Lake Malilangwe and the striking sandstone hills in the distance – as well as thousands of acacia and baobab trees.

At Singita Pumashana Lodge, throw out the checklist and rather take time to savour the wildlife you encounter. Instead of a goal-oriented approach, guides focus on memorable experiences with the more than 36 mammal and 125 bird species found here, including black and white rhino, African hornbills and Lichtenstein hartebeest.

Back at camp, there is plenty to choose from: have an OPI pedicure in the spa, work out in the gym, unwind in the Jacuzzi or hit the tennis courts, 9-hole golf course, mountain-biking track or archery course. In the evenings, guests enjoy sundowner cruises followed by stargazing safaris under the black-velvet skies. Children are specially catered for, with a professional baby-sitting service for those too young to go swimming, fishing or baking with the chefs. Singita Pumashana Lodge offers a magical holiday for the whole family, with a 5-bedroom private villa sleeping 10 people in total tranquillity.

The Malilangwe Trust oversees wildlife conservation and community support programmes, making your safari a definite win-win.

Each of the eight glorious air-conditioned suites affords guests dramatic lake views from their private decks, which are equipped with plunge pools and outdoor showers. Spacious suites comprise a bedroom and adjoining lounge with numerous sitting areas, all punctuated by bold African prints and exciting colours inspired by traditional Shangaan culture. Charming in-suite amenities include a double-sided fireplace and a Swarovski spotting scope for game viewing. There are four 1-bedroom, three 2-bedroom and one 3-bedroom suites.

General Facilities

Personalised and intuitive service is a hallmark of the Singita brand. Your personal butler will do his best to ensure your Pamushana experience is a flawless, tailor-made and unforgettable one.

The rough-hewn architecture of the lodge is characterised by large, airy spaces that flow effortlessly into one another. Communal areas include an indoor dining room, outdoor teak dining deck and central bar area where guests can relax with a drink from the temperature-controlled wine cellar, which also hosts personalised tastings.

Aside from twice-daily games drives with an experienced guide, walking safaris in the forests alongside the Chiredzi or Runde Rivers are offered. Game-drive vehicles have camera mounts for keen photographers. Boat cruises, fishing, tennis (one clay court and a Rebound Ace court), archery and golf at a nearby 9-hole course are other forms of recreation at Pamushana. Visits to the reserve's 2 000-year-old San rock art sites and a Shangaan village situated offer you a unique cultural experience. A golf cart will ferry you from the lodge’s entrance to the game-drive vehicles – look out for nyala and plated lizards along the short drive.

With prior arrangement guests can experience an exhilarating bush sleep-out in one of the private hides that are scattered throughout on the reserve. Unwind in the gym, yoga studio or in the spa with a signature ‘Hakuna Matata' (‘No worries') therapy.

High-speed Wi-Fi is available on the property, as well as mobile phone coverage, babysitting and a children's programme.
