The Majlis Resort is a luxury beach hotel in Lamu, an archipelago off Kenya’s north coast. ‘Majlis’ is an Arabic term for an exceptional place where important guests are hosted.

The resort is a heady blend of East African, Arabic and Swahili style, and is a pleasant stroll away from the beach – barefoot luxury at its finest. The design and décor of Majlis Resort is a visual feast and will transport you into a world of exotic grandeur.

The upper-floor, central bar and open-air lounge areas feature intricately carved doors and archways, and the downstairs section is an elegant space with carved light woods and bleached coral-block walls. Savour a cocktail at the beachside bar with stunning views of Ras Kitau Bay, enjoy delicious local cuisine at the restaurant, and revel in the offerings of the water sports and wellness centre.

The Deluxe Garden View Room is located on the ground floor of the hotel and features a bedroom with an en suite bathroom. It has air-conditioning and features high-ceilings and large windows, letting natural light filter into this beautiful space. Splashes of Swahili decoration add warmth and vibrancy to the white-walled room.

Junior SuiternrnThe Junior Suite is on the first floor of the hotel and keeps in theme with high ceilings, large windows and being bathed in natural light. It has a view of the gardens as well as the ocean from the terrace and is air-conditioned.rnrnFamily Suite rnrnThe Family Suite will envelop families in luxury travel and give all the space needed with interconnectedness. The Family Suite comprises two deluxe rooms with garden views and offers two large terraces, two en suite bathrooms and is located on the first floor.rnrnRoyal Suite rnrnThe Royal Suite is the epitome of space and with its Swahili decorative style, it’s an inviting space to escape to. It features two en suite bathrooms, a large terrace with ocean views, a living room and is comprised of two Junior Suites.
