Africa Safari Expert

Born and raised in the Western Cape between Stellenbosch and Citrusdal, I moved to Johannesburg to start my career in tourism. I then spent three years in Hoedspruit (Kruger) to expand my tourism knowledge before returning to Johannesburg to focus on the luxury tourism industry. Now, I live just outside Johannesburg in Hartbeespoort with my wife and dog.

Soulful Safari Reflection

On a recent visit to Dulini, we had a bit of rain in the afternoon, making the game drive less eventful. Most of the time, we chatted with a couple from New York who were on their honeymoon. Due to the rain, we planned to head back to the lodge, enjoy something hot to drink, and try again the next morning. On our way back, our tracker spotted a pangolin. Seeing this elusive animal had been on my bucket list for so long and I was thrilled to finally encounter it.

Most Memorable Experience Organized for a Client

A retired couple from South Africa had always dreamed of visiting Victoria Falls. When I presented them with a trip that included the Rovos Rail journey from Pretoria to Victoria Falls, they were incredibly emotional. This experience exceeded their expectations and they absolutely loved the trip.

Another memorable experience was organising a rhino conservation activity for an American family in the Timbavati. It was their first time in Africa and they had two children. During the outing, they darted a rhino and its baby, allowing the children to participate in this crucial conservation work. They were deeply moved and loved the experience.

My Best African Travel Advice

Get to know the people with you on safari; you might just make friends for life. Always take sunscreen and a hat!
