Born and raised in Cape Town, one of the world's most scenic cities, it is no surprise that I have a natural infatuation with the great outdoors. My love of the wilderness shaped my early career direction where I was a River Guide on various river locations across South Africa and Namibia. My quest for more adventure meant that I spent the next 17 years overseas, mainly based in the UK, which was a perfect base to explore my love of travel. Various sales roles afforded me the opportunity to visit many different continents and explore a diversity of regions and cultures. After returning to my native South Africa eleven years ago, I have focused on African safari travel, working with the best specialist tour operators in the industry.
I've enjoyed many up close and personal encounters with wildlife that had the adrenaline flowing, but one particular face-to-face experience with a hippo on the banks of the Zambezi at Sindabezi Island is a vivid memory. My love for the honey badger and first sighting almost had me leave the vehicle in excitement in Botswana.
I had the opportunity to have a tree planted with an amazing plaque at a lodge in the Kruger in remembrance of a repeat family who had just lost their mum and wife. The surprise to the family was paramount and we remain close.
Trust in local knowledge and take the time to listen and absorb your surroundings. A person without history, origin, and culture is like a tree without its roots.
Take in Namibia's mesmerising scenery from the air. Visit the iconic sand dunes at Sossusvlei.
An outstanding bush & beach journey. In the game-rich Kruger National Park.
Stay at three of the best eco-friendly luxury safari camps in Botswana. Flying to each destination gives you more time on safari.
