Offering a classic island experience, the Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa appeals to couples and honeymooners as much as families with young children because of the vast array of activities available, as well as the superb location. Lying on a secluded bay on the quieter western coast of the main island of Mahé, Barbarons has a spa (with a double treatment room) as well as a kids' club and swimming pool, yoga, cooking classes, surfing lessons, tennis courts, a gym and plenty more to do.

This is a multi-experience destination: you can catch up on your reading on the long sandy beach, head out on a boat trip or take a tour of the Jardin du Roi (Garden of the King) where you can sample exotic spices. Waterbabies can slip on some fins and a mask to snorkel the local reef; for more serious PADI-accredited scuba divers, it is only a short boat trip to the famous reefs of nearby Thérèse Island. You can also ride across the beach and through rainforest on horseback, stopping to enjoy a picnic lunch supplied by the Barbarons' chefs. The hotel is close to the Seychelles National Botanical Gardens and the beautiful beaches of Barbarons and Grand Anse.

In the evenings, toast another day in the Seychelles before sampling island or Asian cuisine at the resort's restaurants.

Standard Room

The Standard Rooms are only a short stroll from the spa and the beach, with views of the lush garden. They have the same amenities as the Garden View Rooms and can accommodate up to two adults and one child.

Ocean View Suite

These suites offer more space and upgraded amenities like separate lounge areas, bathrooms with showers and separate bathtubs, extra flat-screen televisions and double beds. Savour a sundowner drink on your sea-facing balcony before heading out to one of the restaurants for dinner, or simply order in with your 24-hour room service. These suites have enough capacity for three adults, or two adults plus two children.

Garden View Room

A good choice for tropical nature lovers, Garden View Rooms are comfortable, stylish and truly relaxing ground- or first-floor rooms with private balconies or terraces that overlook the garden and/or swimming pool. The en suite bathrooms have bathtubs and showers, and guests can choose between double or twin beds. Arrangements can be made to accommodate up to two adults and one child in a Garden View Room.

Beach Front Room

Stay right on the palm fringed shore of Mahé. Enjoy extremely easy access to the beach and the refreshing ocean breeze as you sip on a cocktail on your private balcony or terrace. Equipped with the same amenities as the Standard, Garden and Ocean View Rooms, ideal for two adults and one child.

Watch the waves roll in from the comfort of your tranquil private terrace or balcony. Enjoy the same amenities as the Garden View and Standard Rooms, and enough capacity for two adults and one child. Ocean and garden, or ocean and pool view options are available.

General Facilities

Seychelles Barbarons has an excellent range of facilities for its guests: there is a 25-metre / 82-foot swimming pool for adults (there is a separate children's pool), a spa and well-equipped fitness centre, boutiques and a tennis court. The complimentary kids' club welcomes children between four and 12 where they enjoy supervised activities on the beach as well as fun crafts like face painting, cooking classes and kite making. Babysitters are available for younger children.

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort. Golfers will want to try their hand at the ‘eco' driving range: drive biodegradable wooden balls into the Indian Ocean to improve your range and swing (they float, so you can retrieve them to be used again!).

At Seychelles Barbarons, there are two restaurants to choose from as well as two bars that serve light meals. The hotel also has 24-hour room service.

Offering international and Seychellois dishes, Elements is a beachfront buffet restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is a good family choice as a children’s menu is available. You can dine amid the herb garden or on the beach deck – choose from options like freshly caught linefish, char-grilled steak or shrimp tortellini. On ‘Creole nights', enjoy the flavours of the islands along with traditional music and dancing.

Tamarind emphasises Asian cuisine and serves lunch and dinner: tamarind is grown on the island so try the seared tamarind shrimp or Takamaka flamed bananas (Takamaka is an area of Mahé famous for its rum distillery).

Gravity is a roof-top bar serving Italian snacks along with sultry Indian Ocean views. Private beachside dining is available on request.
