Overview of Belle Mare Plage

Mauritius, East coast

Belle Mare Plage is situated on the Mauritius east coast and is set in tropical gardens overlooking a long sandy beach. Enclosed by a coral reef, the waters of the resort are perfect for swimming and snorkelling, and are ideal for children. Cool off in one of the four swimming pools or take advantage of a wide range of watersports such as scuba diving, windsurfing, or water-skiing.

Land-based activities are available too: hire a bicycle to explore the island or play a round of golf at either of the first-class Legend and Links golf courses. And while you and your partner enjoy a romantic meal or a relaxing couples spa treatment, your children will be well looked after by the Kakoo Kid’s Club. Dine in style in the evening while being entertained by local dancers.

Dining

La Citronelle is the main restaurant at the resort. It’s famous for its varied cuisine which includes tropical and Italian buffets, grills and seafood with a hint of Asian flavours. Be sure to catch the local dancers who perform twice a week.

Distinguished by its water features, the Blue Penny Cafe is a fine dining restaurant that offers a wide range of delectable flavours in an unique environment. The extensive wine cellar and cigar humidor contribute to the elegant atmosphere of colours and fragrances.

Situated in a private corner near the villas, La Spiaggia offers lunches during the day and a blend of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine at night.

The Deer Hunter restaurant, situated in the Legend Golf Course’s clubhouse, has spectacular views over the course and is open daily with a continental breakfast buffet; a fusion of Mauritian and European cuisine in a fine dining setting takes care of dinner.

There are several options for light meals and snacks during the day. Head for The Swing in the golf clubhouse or Indigo Beach and La Kaze, both near the beach.

A bustling beach resort with as much activity or relaxation as you wish. Great for families especially with teens as there is so much to do, but also couples who like a buzz around them. I highly recommend staying in a private villa with a pool. Opt for the North Side if you’re looking for something quieter, or the South Side to be closer to the kids’ club and sports hub. Definitely book the Blue Penny Cellar one evening for a special dinner paired with wines from all over the world, together with the sushi restaurant was a gourmet highlight for me.

In Mauritius, Belle Mare Plage turned out to be just what we were looking for – a place to relax and play a bit of golf. The food and service there were superb.

After staying one week at the Belle Mare Resort Mauritius, we genuinely think that the employees of this resort mistakenly thought we were related to the royal family! The service was outstanding; employees were friendly and were honoured to serve us. By the end of our stay, we had made friends with many of the employees. Whether it be from the numerous buffets or al a carte, the food was excellent. The rooms were spacious, clean and tasteful with a stunning view of the poolside and indian ocean. The resort kept us entertained with many different activities, many of which we couldn’t get round to due to our limited stay and our overwhelming need to frequent the loungers on the shore side to relax. The two fully complementary golf courses, Legends and the Links, were both of a high standard and very well kept.
Although the alcohol was a little pricy, we felt that the quality, service and all the little extras compensated for this. We are heading back to Belle Mare as soon as possible.
