Set in one of the South Luangwa's prime riverside locations, Chamilandu Camp is an ideal base for a stay in this remote location. The elegant tree-house chalets at the camp offer superb views over the waters of the Luangwa River and Nchindeni Hills.

Begin your day with an early-morning walk in the wilderness, followed by an excellent brunch. Spend some time relaxing in a hammock, or visiting the river-side hide before enjoying a late afternoon game drive. On your drives and walks, you visit the oxbow lagoons where elephants, hippos, and other wildlife can be seen as they come to drink.

  • Unique & intimate tree-house bush camp

Standard Room

Chamilandu's unique tree-house chalets are tastefully decorated to create a soothing and relaxing ambience high up in the trees. The front of each tree-house opens out on a 180° view of the Luangwa River and Nchindeni Hills.

Each of the three 2-metre high chalets offers either twin beds or a king-sized bed , and has an en suite bathroom open to the stars, consisting of a shower, toilet and dual hand basin.

The raised observation hide is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the elevated views of the river and surrounding wilderness.

Enjoy a refreshing drink at the bar that is located near the dining area and also offers magnificent views.

Meals are served in an elegantly simple thatched dining room, which offers magnificent views over the water.

In addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner, mid-morning tea with home-made cookies is served during the morning hike, and sundowners and light snacks are a traditional feature of the late afternoon game drive.

Kyle Denson

"The sightings at Chamilandu were great too. Elephants at our tent, leopards, giraffe, owls etc... It is hard to say I would change it since we had such a good experience."

Robert Cartwright

"Fantastic food, very welcoming staff, excellent accommodation - if we were to pick out a few exceptional things it would be the guides in both Chamilandu and Old Mondoro and the managers at Old Mondoro"
