Overview

Chobe Game Lodge is the only permanent accommodation in Botswana’s magnificent Chobe National Park. The property’s elegant architecture is informed by Moorish design, its high arches and barrel-vault ceilings create a sense of simple grandeur. All 47, air-conditioned rooms overlook the Chobe River, which supports the world’s densest population of Kalahari elephants along with large herds of buffalo and zebra.

Spend your days seeking out the Big 5, exploring the land by vehicle and the river by boat - either option promises you exciting wildlife encounters. You may even spot the rare aquatic red lechwe, or the indigenous Chobe bushbuck. The abundant game supports an equally healthy population of predators, including large resident populations of lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah.

Between morning and afternoon game viewing activities, the poolside terrace is a great spot to unwind. Celebrate the sunset with a river cruise or cocktails in the lounge. After dinner, enjoy a game of billiards in the cigar bar, or a night cap from the complimentary mini-bar, sipped on your private balcony overlooking the moonlit river.

Chobe Game Lodge met us at the airport and 30 minutes later we were at the beautiful lodge. Great rooms, super clean, great service, food, etc. Lots of animals, saw 4 of the Big 5 (no rhino). Lots and lots of elephants, lions, buffaloes, and all s orts of plains game. I think a 3 night stay is perfect to see all the sights and animals.

Chobe Game Lodge was a different experience - with boat trips on the river, wonderful animals and birds, and huge numbers of elephants and buffalo coming down to the river. Gobe was an excellent and knowledgeable host, always ready to adapt the drive according to the interests of the group.

Chobe Game Lodge has been terrific. They upgraded us to a suite with our own pool. I was in heaven ! We actually didn't know it was an upgrade until I asked at checkout. The staff and food also amazing. Game drives and river cruises were different than Thornybush and so the experience made the overall trip fuller and complete.

It was a wonderful trip and truly an experience of a lifetime. Everyone had an outstanding time. As to arrangements, everything went incredibly smooth and all of the accommodations were excellent. I have no complaints on any part of the trip. A ll of the staff, guides, and trackers at the camps were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

Chobe was also amazing - the people and the animals were great - not sure which were better!! We loved our driver Irene and our boat driver, Gobe. We had fun with Gobe who is pregnant with twins, so we gave her a baby shower on the river while we sa w elephants and hippos! Colleen also took care of our meals and treated us royally. I hesitate to say how good it was because everyone will want to go and it would be so crowded.

The Chobe Game Lodge was beautiful, and even though it's a tough competition, I think out of the whole trip they had the best staff. Everyone there was AWESOME. You could tell they genuinely cared about you, always making sure you drank enough water, etc. We had the same boat guide (Gobe), game guide (Irene), and server (Collen) throughout our stay at the lodge which was great because we really got to bond with them. We even threw Gobe a baby shower on our last river tour, she's expecting twins in October!!! We exchanged emails and can't wait to see pictures once she gives birth. Everyone there just feels like family. Irene was great on the drives, we would get so excited to see a specific animal and she would do her best to make sure we got to see it. In the end we were able to see young lions, lionesses, a male lion, leopards, kudu, impala, giraffes, elephants, warthogs, hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, baboons, honey badgers, jackals, mongoose, zebras (at Livingstone), countless birds, etc. The only downside to Chobe was the spotty wifi, but it's nice to take a break from social media sometimes and just enjoy nature and God's creations.

Chobe Game Lodge was a nice place to end the trip. Rooms were very comfortable and all inclusive drinks and laundry was nice. By now we had seen all the animals but every drive was different and we saw more great animals. It was nice being in the par k and the locating was excellent, right on the river. The river cruises were a nice change from the drives. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

I was amazed on our first day when I turned around to see hundreds of elephants playing in the Chobe River behind me. We stood on their viewing deck watching them and took 100 pictures just there! Later, it was also incredible to take the guided boat tour and dock just a few meters from the elephants. The guides who took us on our boat cruises were super nice and knowledgeable.

The Chobe Game lodge was a bit more like a hotel than I had envisioned. I loved how it employs so many female guides, unlike the other camps. Our last night at Chobe Game lodge was especially magical because our waiter selected us for a special dinne r under the stars right next to the river! We loved it.

As you rightly wrote, we did have a vacation of a lifetime. As you know, Carol and I returned to Victoria Falls and also Chobe Game Lodge, this time in the company of our extended family. I have to be honest I didn’t expect CGL to have improved thei r perfect service, but they did. I will be writing to congratulate them on this. The transfers and accommodations were excellent both at CGL and at the Kingdom in Zimbabwe.

Chobe Game Lodge was superb! The staff were amazing, the food great and the sights just spectacular – such a vast open plain with so many animals. We managed to see 4 of the Big 5 within a day or so of arriving. The river tours were fabulous for g etting up close and personal with the elephants, we were just delighted! Our river guide, Vivian, was just so knowledgeable and happy to work with us to find all the best sights in the park. Our Front of House manager (sorry forgotten his name) also offered us a private dinner by the river which was a highlight of our evenings at the lodge, just lovely!

We had a GREAT time in Zimbabwe and Botswana! Everything went so smooth... we never had to worry about where we were going next, the staff at Wild Horizons did a great job of keeping us on track and even accommodating us when we wanted to make change s! Ilala Lodge and Chobe Game Lodge were both EXCELLENT places. I can not say more about the staff and these two places, not to mention the beautiful settings. Just great. Thanks for all your help putting together an excellent trip. Loved it! We saw everything including lions and leopards! Wonderful!

Stop three was Chobe Game Lodge. The trip from Victoria Falls to Botswana was by coaster bus. The driver took us through the immigration process and handed us over to the guide from Botswana. This hand over was most helpful and made the process easy. The drive to the game lodge is about 50 minutes from the border. Chobe game lodge is the only lodge actually in the Chobe game reserve. Even on the drive to the lodge we saw many elephants. Chobe game lodge takes about 100 customers and was about 3/4 full. The units were excellent with good views over the Chobe river, there was also an excellent walkway at the river’s edge where game could be viewed. There were two game drives a day again in the early morning and late afternoon. The reason you go to Chobe is to see elephants and you do not come away disappointed. There are many herds and single bulls we even saw them crossing the river from Namibia. The food and service were excellent; this lodge also provides beer and some wines plus laundry at no charge.

Our favorite place was Chobe Game Lodge as the lodge there is just gorgeous! Everything was perfect. The game drives were full of animal sightings with knowledgeable guides to tell us all about them. The food was fantastic with a breakfast buffet and cooked to order meals as well. Lunch was served on the boardwalk so we could watch the elephants along the riverside, and dinner was by candle light with about seven choices of entrees to choose from. The staff was very friendly and the room was very nice. I can't say enough good things about this place and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

During our last lunch there, the restaurant manager came over and thanked us for staying at Chobe Game Lodge and invited us to a "secret" dinner. When we showed up at the restaurant that evening, we were guided to one of the beautiful decks along th e river. The pathway and boardwalk to the deck were lighted by luminaries. Set on the deck was a table for two set with a huge candelabra. We were the only people out there. It was a beautiful clear night, all the stars were out, our meal was delicious (as always) and the only background noise we could here was the splashing and grunting of hippos and elephants. A PERFECT ending to a PERFECT vacation.

Chobe Game Lodge was a real treat. We really enjoyed our room with a private pool. We saw more elephants on the 20 minute drive from the Park entrance to the lodge than we had seen in our entire life. We also were fortunate to get to see a large pack of African Wild Dogs on two occasions. Very well run, beautiful lodge. We'd definitely return to the Chobe Game Lodge!

Moremi: our expectations were of course higher after having been to Chobe Game Lodge, and Camp Moremi didn't disappoint: again a warm welcome, good tents, amazing staff. As with Chobe, the food at Moremi was also very good. The concern for the safety of the guests, for instance: walking guests home to their tents between dusk and dawn, also made us feel very safe (this also goes for Chobe). Sleeping in the tents gave an extra dimension to our travel, as in going to sleep with the sounds of the Delta (including baboons and hippos), and we also enjoyed it (and didn't loose to much sleep :)). The surroundings, both land and water, were great, and we've been very, very lucky to see so many animals (lions, leopards, cheetah and wild dogs, we've seen them all), which was also due to our fantastic guide. All in all: an amazing experience.

Chobe, even before we arrived we were awed by the nature of Chobe National Park. We were very pleasantly surprised by the Chobe Game Lodge, situated perfectly, and we received a very warm welcome. All the staff were fantastic, genuinely friendly, hap py and knowledgable. The rooms were amazing, and the food was very good. The game drives and boat cruises were amazing; the scenery was very beautiful, and we saw a lot of great animals. The guides were also very kind, knowledgable, had good tracking skills and had a good sense of humour. Chobe very much exceeded our wildest expectations.
