Masai Mara - Olseki- Kenya (OSJ - Mara Lodges Airport)
Encounter Mara is a luxury, tented camp located in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy, which is part of Kenya’s famous Masai Mara ecosystem. The design of the camp is eco-friendly and consists of a central lounge tent with a view over a salt-lick, and an outdoor relaxation area. Go on game drives in the Masai Mara, with the camp’s own expertly trained and knowledgeable Maasai guides.
Depending on the time you choose to visit, you may also see the annual Wildebeest Migration in the Mara, although this area is great for year-round wildlife viewing and offers excellent sightings. The Mara Naboisho Conservancy offers a high density of wildlife and a low density of other tourists, making for a truly memorable safari away from the crowds.
Make a Positive Impact Through TravelAsilia empowers crucial wilderness areas in East Africa, benefitting people and nature alike. By making bold, and often pioneering, investments into areas that are ecologically and economically vulnerable, Asilia aims to turn these areas into viable conservation economies, benefitting both the local communities as well as the environment. With the help of guests, who contribute a levy of US$ 5 for each night that they stay at an Asilia property, Asilia is able to make a significant positive impact towards their goal of empowering these areas, including the communities and wildlife that call them home. |

Encounter Mara is a very well run Asilia camp where the staff are delightfully friendly, their English is good and jokes are witty. They have a cosey main area with a simple but tasteful contemporary safari look that is carried on throughout the lodge with most areas being directly on the ground and not on raised decking. They also had a little shop, a mess area, firepit, 10 tents (including 2 x family & 2 x triples) and an outdoor viewing deck where we were served a very tasty lunch.
We got to enjoy game drives with the camp guide and were very happy with the quality of guiding and his knowledge. In the evening, we had a communal dinner with everyone at the camp and celebrated someone’s birthday with a hearty song and a cake.
We stayed 4 nights at each property. The length of time at each site worked very well for us to feel that we had a good experience at each. In addition, the three locations provided differing experiences, which was greatly appreciated. The Director of each camp did an excellent job in providing a warm and welcoming experience, and the transport between the sites also worked well.
We had a wonderful time, thank you for helping plan our adventure. We look forward to other African destinations in the future!
The Encounter Camp was just perfect for us. The people and the staff are all so nice and welcoming! The tents are comfortable, the food is just amazing, and of course the drives were all incredible. Our guide, Nabala, was wonderful spotting animals and taking care of us. The balloon flight which was like a dream. In the Mara Reserve we were able to see a river crossing by the migrating wildebeest. What a show!
Encounter Mara is fantastic! A great first time safari experience. It was very comfortable and intimate. Everyone bent over backwards at all times to accommodate our schedule and preferences.
