Overview of Governors’ Private Camp

Situated on a quiet bend of the Mara River that is home to a resident pod of hippos, Governor’s Private Camp is surrounded by forests teeming with birdlife. Slightly smaller than its sister camp Il Moran, Governor’s is ideal for families or a group of friends as the entire camp can be booked for exclusive use for up to 16 people, offering a completely private safari experience.

You’ll enjoy thrilling game drives in search of Africa’s Big 5, and between July and October, you’ll have the chance to witness thousands upon thousands of wildebeest and zebra migrate across the savannah and make perilous crossings over the area’s crocodile-infested rivers. Early morning hot-air balloon rides will provide you with magnificent aerial views while guided nature walks will introduce you to the details of this incredible ecosystem. You could also visit a nearby Maasai village to meet the locals and learn about their way of life or take a day trip to beautiful Lake Victoria.

The location of Governors Private camp is one of the prettiest in the Mara with its views over the river and enclosed by lush forest. The tents are comfortable but possibly what you will remember best after leaving will be the friendly staff and excellent guides.
