Overview of Jock Safari Lodge

South Africa, Kruger Private Reserves, Kruger National Park

One of the first safari lodges built in the Kruger National Park, Jock Safari Lodge is situated at the confluence of two rivers – the Mitomeni and Biyamiti. The lodge is located in the southern part of the park in the Jock of the Bushveld Concession. Surrounded by magnificent trees and an abundance of bird and animal life, the lodge reflects a unique style that combines indigenous Zulu and Shangaan cultures.

At Jock Safari Lodge, game drives are guided by a professional team of rangers in open-vehicles, providing the best possible encounters. Other activities available include walking safaris, birding safaris, guided historical tours and stargazing. The charming rock pool is a great place to relax and cool off while enjoying the view of the surrounding wilderness.

We really enjoyed Jock Safari lodge and we saw so much wildlife and really enjoyed the location. We had been on safari lots of times in Africa and when we arrived at Jock our guide asked us what we wanted to see and since we have seen most animals on our past safaris I named three difficult things to see – wild dogs, sable antelope and ground hornbill. We ended up seeing all three Christmas morning. It was amazing and even our ranger could not believe we saw all three. The food and accommodations were excellent and the game viewing was amazing

At Jock, they can’t go off-road and so the sightings are way more hit or miss. This is something you may want to point out to people coming over to SA. In 5 safaris there, we saw one male lion. We saw tons of zebra, giraffe, elephant, rhino and so forth, but the cat sightings were few and far between. Personally, I like the way things work at Sabi better. If one of the guides spots something incredible (lion, leopard or for the lucky ones, cheetah), they are immediately in contact with the other guides and off you go, rushing through the park to see it. This really feels like being on safari – it’s fun and let’s face it, most of us who come all the way over there really, really want to see some of those cats! In this regard, Jock was pretty disappointing becaus

Jock Safari Lodge is truly wonderful! Excellent location, the best staff and rangers, and the grounds there are beautiful. We had great luck spotting animals. They are the best in my book!

Jock Safari was really fun and exhausting. We saw the big 5, plus a black rhino! Our guide was terrific, and again, my mother was treated really well. The location was excellent. The rooms were beautiful and the plunge pool was great in the heat of the day. The food was good; we enjoyed the Boma.
