Visitors often include Mchenja as part of their camp-to-camp walking safari but the camp also functions as a stand-alone accommodation – and there’s plenty to do: the camp offers day and night game drives as well as walking safaris while for your comfort and relaxation, the camp provides a lounge and dining area, small library, bar and shaded plunge pool.

Mchenja Camp only has five spacious and luxurious rooms, set under a thatched roof.

Each has been designed with style and comfort in mind and provides guests with their very own open-air, en suite bathroom with bath and outside shower on a deck that looks out over the river and surrounding South Luangwa landscape.

Mchenja Camp provides guests with a comfortable and intimate environment in which to relax and experience Africa’s landscape and wildlife – and with only five tents available, no wonder the camp is popular with honeymooners.

You could chat about the excitement of your game drive or walking safari while relaxing in the lounge, or spend quiet moments reading in the small library nook. Indulge in scrumptuous meals outdoors or indoors, grab a drink from the bar and take a refreshing dip in the plunge pool while listening to the calls of birds and hippos in the river nearby.

At night you could choose to keep the room open or draw the curtains closed, a truly back-to-nature feel, with a lovely evening breeze.
