Overview

Situated on the edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Nepture Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge is a short drive away from the famous crater – a world wonder for game viewing – as well as the rewarding Lake Manyara National Park. Relax and enjoy the tranquil ambience of the lodge, which is set in a dramatic landscape known for its coffee plantations and volcanic peaks.

Enjoy private cottage accommodation and socialise at the pool after all-day game-viewing activities in the crater, which is home to the Big 5. Lake Manyara National Park, which is also within easy driving distance, is another fascinating wildlife reserve to visit: keep a look out for elephants, hippos and tree-climbing lions that the park is famous for. And if you want some cultural insights, go on an excursion to the archeaological treasure trove of Olduvai Gorge or to a local Maasai village.

Rooms

Luxury Suite

Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge consists of substantial cottages with separate en suite bedrooms and lounge areas. Relax in your king-sized canopy bed as a fire crackles in the open fireplace, or watch the fire from one of the armchairs or the couch in the lounge.

The spacious bathrooms feature large showers with double vanities. Outside, cottages have large decks equipped with dining tables and chairs, and offers stunning views of the area which you can enjoy from comfortable couches.

Facilities

Grab a book from the lodge’s library and sit by the fire in the lounge after dinner and an exciting day in the conservation area.

Revitalise your senses at the Mvua African Rain Spa. Rain in Africa gives life and this spa is no different: it utilises water along with natural ingredients to give you a refreshing and revitalising experience.

Relax on the viewing deck or take a dip in the swimming pool – both offer tranquil views of the Ngorongoro highlands.

Dining

The formal Acacia Restaurant offers a buffet breakfast or an a la carte menu of light and tasty Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner. Most of the meals are made with locally grown ingredients from either the lodge’s vegetable garden or the nearby community.

On request, dinner maybe served on the pool deck or out in the bush.

The location of this lodge was great as it meant the journey into the crater was not too long. The lodge itself is stunning, with gorgeous views and huge rooms. We were very well looked after and it was nice to have a shower without wondering when the hot water was going to run out. The crater itself was amazing and we were lucky enough to spot 2 black Rhino which meant we could cross the Big 5 off the list! The crater should be mandatory for everyone visiting. At Lake Manyara we enjoyed our day in the park.

The Explorean Ngorongoro Lodge we stayed in was a really a special treat. After two tented camps, this was a great middle cool, clean stopover. We saw some great things and I am happy we visited these places. We definitely prefer the more remote plac es.

"Amazing resort and accomodations. Excellent food and alcohol included was a nice plus. I loved Ngorogoro Crater. It was my personal favorite of the parks. Everything could be seen in one geographic location."

Exploreans: probably the best chef we have had on our trips! on site very attentive owner/manager. Great cottage with fireplace in the living room and bedroom, huge balcony. They even have a pillow menu. We had the most beautiful location/cottage, but it did require 72 stairs to get to it. there are 2 rows of upper cottages, the top one backs on the road, and those ones look over the 2nd row of cottages, the 2nd row (lower) cottages have a better view than the first row

Exploreans Ngorongoro Lodge - Great lodge, very new. Excellent food. Would recommend for a stopover. I would also just add re Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, it was probably the one lodge we stayed where I got the feeling our waiter expected to be tipped o n the spot. This was a little off-putting, since being off season everywhere we went was very overstaffed. Giving every lodge employee who helped us with anything an individual tip would have been very expensive! Exploreans was much nicer than Sopa.
