Olmara Camp
Lying on the Eastern plains in the Soit le Motonyi region of the Serengeti, Olmara Camp is an exquisitely designed, eco-friendly tented camp that offers an unsurpassed display of the rich wildlife and untamed natural beauty that this region of Tanzania is known for.
Being fully solar powered, Olmara Camp leaves a light footprint on the environment and strives to blend with its surrounding environment. Each tented suite is under canvas, seamlessly blending into an ancient grove of acacias, and boasts endless vistas of the sublime grassy plains and the Ngare Nanyuki river valley.
The camp is unfenced and located in a unique expanse of the Serengeti that is unspoiled, wild, and remote – and with this isolation comes the opportunity to witness the resident predators, such as lions, cheetahs and spotted hyena as they plot on their prey. Your sightings are not limited to predator-prey interactions, however, as the wealth and diversity of wildlife in this area of the Serengeti offers year-round game viewing of the highest quality. Morning and afternoon drives are augmented by guided walks, hot-air balloon safaris and overnight fly camping experiences that immerses you into the sounds of the African savanna.
Lastly, a definite highlight of Olmara Camp is its stargazer tents, where you can comfortably recline on large cushions and fall asleep under the open rooftops, with a dazzling ceiling of stars as your view.

All Olmara’s spacious tented suites are designed to merge with the surrounding environment. The eco-conscious tents are all under canvas and boast picturesque of the endless untamed wilderness. Inside, you will enjoy stylish comfort that includes a lounge cove, net-draped king-size bed, writing desk, soft carpets laid over teak floors, and an en-suite fitted with a shower and flushing toilet.

Olmara is an unfenced camp and offers simple but comfortable facilities. The communal dining area, bar, and lounge, known collectively as the mess tent, are in the centre of the camp and serve as the main socialising area. Step outside and you find the fire pit and snug chairs, ready for a safari story or two. Or if you prefer to stay indoors, the mess tent offers cosy seating areas to kick back and relax with a book from the well-stocked library and an ice-cold beer or refreshing gin and tonic.

All meals and selected drinks (including local beers and South African wines) are included at Olmara Camp. Flying in fresh produce regularly and baking its own bread, cakes and pastries, the camp aims to produce healthy, balanced, and tantalizing menus as well as to cater to individual dietary requirements.
The day usually revolves around an early breakfast, lunch on your return from the morning activity and then a grand dinner after drinks around the campfire. However, meals and mealtimes are flexible at Olmara, and picnic lunches can be organised for full-day game drives while early evenings can be spent away from camp with sundowner drinks and canapés. You can dine with fellow safari travellers at camp or choose to sit down at a table in the privacy of your own veranda.

We LOVED the trip! The difficulty is coming back!
The Olmara staff made us feel cared for by a loving family. Robert was funny and really great. But all the staff were amazing and Issa, the camp manager, very caring.
Our guide, Said, was the BEST guide I have ever had in years of photo safaris! This might be a problem because it now means that I will want him for future trips!
