Overview

The Royal Zambezi is an award-winning but unpretentious lodge located on the banks of the Zambezi River in a private concession opposite the world-famous Mana Pools World Heritage site in Zambia.

From the moment you are collected by their private Royal Air charter plane for your flight to the lodge, you will be immersed in a world of both adventure and pampering, while still being close to the pulse of the wilderness. With a host of exciting activities to choose from, you are guaranteed an exceptional experience: thrilling big-game encounters vie with canoeing the pristine waters teeming with hippos and crocodiles or hiking the surrounding mountains. Once you have had your fill of adventure, the Royal Bush Spa – Zambia’s first ‘bush spa’ - offers the perfect retreat to revitalise your body and senses. Or you could honour the lodge’s well-worn tradition of DNA – that’s, ‘Do nothing at all’.

With a selection of only 15 secluded suites and customised family units, the Royal Zambezi is ideal as a honeymoon destination or as a unique family getaway, where the combination of luxurious surroundings and a stunning riverside location will capture your imagination.

Rooms

Deluxe Room

The Royal Zambezi Lodge’s canvas tents are set under thatched canopies and perfectly positioned among mature trees for complete privacy and optimal river views from shady verandas. Furnished and decorated in a contemporary style, the tented suites exude an understated elegance of natural tones and grand textures. All have elegant 4-poster beds swathed in mosquito netting, a lounge area and beautifully fitted en suite bathrooms with signature amenities. Deluxe Suites are equipped with large outside living areas featuring plunge pools, private salas (open pavilions), outside showers and free-standing copper bathtubs overlooking the flowing Zambezi.

Classic Room

The Royal Zambezi accommodates only 30 guests in three different types of suites. The eight Classic tented suites have lovely riverside views from their private verandahs while the four Deluxe and three Presidential suites feature plunge pools, outside showers and free-standing copper bathtubs. All have elegant 4-poster beds swathed in mosquito netting, a lounge area and beautifully fitted en suite bathrooms with signature amenities.

Facilities

The thatched main building is light and airy, with polished floors and high ceilings to allow cooling breezes from the meandering Zambezi to pass through. A tastefully decorated lounge and dining area lead out to an expanse of wooden decking that hangs over the water with steps leading down to a jetty. The verandah leads to the bar below the spreading boughs of a mature and shady sausage tree, and beyond is a secluded pool deck with umbrellas and sun loungers overlooking the river.

The Royal Zambezi Bush Spa is positioned around a central courtyard, where two treatment rooms offer a tranquil retreat to nourish your senses. The plunge pool, Jacuzzi and lounge alongside provide the perfect place to relax and drink in the splendid view.

Dining

A skilled team of chefs ensure that the Royal Zambezi’s culinary experience is excellent. From the early morning continental breakfast spread featuring freshly baked muffins before your game drive to a sumptuous lunch either served on the deck of the lodge or out on the river or bush, little effort is spared to create a feast for the senses.

Dinners are intimate affairs lit by candlelight, served either in the dining room or in romantic seclusion at your suite, or even on a sandbank in the river for the ultimate surprise!
