The Conservatory is a sophisticated ‘all-day’ restaurant and is located in the Cellars building. It has been built around a 200-year-old oak tree and offers serene garden views no matter where you sit. The much-praised Greenhouse offers unparalleled views of the Steenberg Mountains and a conceptual dinner menu that allows the culture, terrior and flavours of the Cape to shine. Both restaurants were excellent. Indeed the Greenhouse is just exceptional, one of the best meal we ever had. Even the Conservatory was excellent (but service less efficient). I was not even willing to try this last one because I was not convinced by the quality of Martini bar and breakfast, but finally it was a very good and positive surprise for the dinner.
Regarding activities in Cape Town, a picnic at Kirstenbosch is always a must (especially when it is so close from the hotel) and we also discovered the neighbourhoods market in Woodstock which was great.
The only regret was that we had such a short time there! A wonderful country house style hotel with impeccable service. We had a great suite of rooms. The afternoon tea was one of the best we have ever had and our tasting menu in the Green House world class.
