Bwindi Lodge
Bwindi Lodge is an eco-lodge that overlooks the forest canopy of Uganda’s beautiful Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and specialises in gorilla-trekking expeditions. Built and run on sound ecological principles, the lodge uses natural energy sources such as solar power and controls water consumption to reduce its environmental footprint.
The Buhoma region of Impenetrable Forest has at least three habituated gorilla families that live in the thick, damp tropical undergrowth. Tracking them is quite challenging but the rewards are great. Home also to monkeys, chimpanzees and countless butterflies and forest birds, this pocket of primeval forest is one of the most biologically diverse areas on Earth and has been designated a World Heritage Site.
When not out trekking through the forests of Bwindi on search for gorillas, enjoy the activities and facilities available at and from the lodge. Enjoy a tour of the tea plantation, take a stroll to the river below the lodge or head out on a hike on the Munyanga River trail or to a nearby waterfall. Spend some time at the spa for a rejuvenating treatment, followed by a local beverage from the Bwindi Bar.

Unwind in the spacious lounge area and savor a nightcap while a crackling fire keeps you warm. Between your days out tracking gorillas, find comfort and relaxation in the comfortable beds.
The lodge has a natural, warm and welcoming air and your needs are looked after by carefully trained staff recruited from local communities. At Bwindi Lodge fresh wholesome meals combining local cuisine and Western tastes are served in the dining room or on the veranda accompanied by dramatic views across the valley. And after a strenuous day of hiking through the rainforest, there are few things better than a refreshing drink enjoyed at the bar and lounge area while gazing out at the dense forest below.
'The eco-friendly bandas offer gorgeous views of the forest and you will want to put your feet up and take in the tranquillity. The lodge is often frequented by the gorillas and a visit to Bwindi Bar in the high street of the village (run by the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust) is recommended if you would like to experience local cuisine.'

Loved this lodge. Situated in the Buhoma village but in a quiet garden setting behind the main road. Quite a lot of walking between rooms and the common areas. The rooms are lovely, even the standard bandas are spacious with a warm and welcoming feel. This will definitely be my preference for travellers looking for the most luxurious option in Buhoma.
The best service and hospitality we've ever gotten in our lives . Above any other hotel we've been. The staff and people here are beyond extraordinary, their warmth and kindness is something truly unforgettable. The place is beautiful, the forest is something magical to be witnessing right beside you, the food is amazing. I truly recommend this hotel and experience. We loved the lodge, the fireplace, the warm wake up calls and the hot water bottle in our sheets.

We truly had an amazing time in Africa. The gorilla trekking was a highlight.
We just wanted to let you know that we are having a fantastic time so far. Our two gorilla treks were amazing, we got up so close and had some incredible photos. Everything has been great, the Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge is beautiful and the community visit was so interesting. All the guides and staff are so friendly and helpful.
