I loved the freestanding luxury cottages with beautiful views and a lovely big bath to relax in after a day of trekking. The communal areas were really inviting with a burning fire to welcome you in. Great food and accommodating staff make this the perfect stop off for luxury travellers wanting to experience the gorillas.

Staff at the Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge were friendly and extremely helpful. The gorilla trek was exciting (we each were touched/punched by a gorilla – big and small). Food, lodging, staff, game viewing – all an excellent experience.

Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge was everything we expected and more. There were few people at the lodge so we were taken care of especially well. The trek to Dianne Fossey’s gravesite was very emotional on a number fronts but the hike up the mountain was well worth it and the guides were great.

The Silverback lodge was superb… fine accomodation, good food and nice people. It’s not for the faint of heart…. the access road is horrible… although that apparantely is to be fixed up soon…. and the climb to reach the lodge, and then another to reach the room are significant….. but if you are going to see the gorillas, you need to be pretty fit anyway. Seeing the gorillas is truly fantastic. I love being in the open vehicle and watching elephants cross the road in front of it, or a lion stroll past it, but with the gorillas, being on the ground and maybe a foot away puts the experience on a whole different level.
