Botswana's Khwai River & Linyanti Channel
Ideal for an adventurous couple, this journey is all about personalised experiences, remote destinations, untrammelled adventure and understated luxury. You will have the opportunity of delving into two of Botswana's best-known wilderness regions, the Khwai River section of the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti Marshes in the Chobe Enclave, where you will embark on a safari in one of Africa's true wilderness regions, home to all the apex predators as well as abundant plains game. The Khwai River forms the northern boundary of the Delta and is known for its massive, grassy floodplains that attract wading elephants and plenty of birdlife. Chobe, of course, is also known for its large herds of elephants as well as buffalo and hippo that amass at the water.
This 7-day itinerary marries excellent value-for-money with intimate camps, top-notch guides and very warm hospitality – from the wake-up call in the morning to the nightcap under the stars in the evening. And being in a private concession allows your guide to get you really close to fantastic sightings on night drives and being permitted to drive off-road.
Botswana lends itself to so much more than just classic 4×4 game drives: lace up your boots for a guided nature walk, enjoy a mokoro ride through the reeds and waterlilies, and swap the vehicle for a boat for an exciting water-based safari. Between April and November, the vastness of the Delta and its ox-box lakes, wide floodplains, huge termite mounds and herds of tsessebe (Africa's fastest antelope) can be admired from the air in a 30-minute helicopter flip that gives new meaning to the term ‘bird's-eye view'.

Very nice lodge and room: only mosquito net, not closed window so very cold in the morning. Breakfast standing around the fire 👍 . Great contact with staff and between guests (16 guests for 25 staff). African evening with songs in their outside restaurant with all guests at the same table. Bush walk very interesting 👍. Mokoro experience so peaceful & nice because so different from a safari in jeep 👍
Your safari begins and ends in Maun, also known as the gateway to the Okavango Delta. From Maun International Airport you will board a small aircraft to an airstrip not far from your first destination, Khwai Leadwood Camp. Set on the eastern border of Moremi Game Reserve, on a private community-run concession, you can enjoy the best of both worlds – access to the vast Moremi as well as crowd-free game viewing on a private concession where off-road driving, night drives and guided walks are permitted. Mokoro safaris are available when water levels are up, and tours of the nearby village allow you to connect with local life and culture.
Khwai Leadwood Camp is located on the banks of a lagoon and has no permanent structures, making you feel in harmony with your surroundings. The Khwai area is known for having some of the best wildlife sightings in the Okavango Delta, and it is a place where the community lives peacefully alongside wildlife under a system of eco-travel and sustainable development. The camp uses solar-powered energy and employs sustainable water usage. There are just six comfortable tented suites, so you are guaranteed a truly intimate experience.

We had a great time in Botswana. The Linyanti Camp was amazing. The staff, manager and guide were exceptional. The food was delicious, well above our expectations, and the service was exemplary. I really cannot stress enough how much we enjoyed the camp and how great everyone was there.
On your fourth day, you will leave the Okavango behind and travel to the Chobe Enclave in northern Botswana. You will transfer on a shared light aircraft flight and then drive a short distance to Linyanti Bush Camp, your safari home for the next three nights. It looks out over the Linyanti wetlands from raised wooden platforms. This region has wide, permanent rivers and, in addition to game drives and walking, you can experience boating and catch-and-release fishing. Canoe safaris are available when water levels permit. Wildlife in this region includes hippo, crocodile, abundant birdlife, all the big cats and African wild dog.
After a day on safari, return to camp to gather around a fire and enjoy a hearty meal with fine South African wine. After all the stars appear in the night sky, you will surely be ready to retire to your private suite for a hot shower and a good night’s rest. On your final day on safari, a short flight takes you from Linyanti back to Maun International Airport where you can continue with onward travel arrangements.
