About Me

I have always been a true traveller at heart – full of adventure and enthusiasm, with a passion to explore the globe. Ever since I can remember, I have been eager to see and experience all the beauty our special continent, Africa, has to offer. I am more than blessed to have a family that are as keen on safari and travel (particularly within Africa) as I am. I owe it to them as they sparked my passion for adventure and travel which led me to the path I am on today, an Africa Safari Expert at Go2Africa.

I believe everyone needs to experience the absolute beauty and adventure that lies within Africa - my heart would be so full knowing that I have been able to contribute to making someone’ safari dreams, a reality.

Where I Grew Up

I am beyond fortunate to call Cape Town my home and always have been. The Mother City is one of my favourite places in the world – it has something to offer everyone and will always hold a special place in my heart. I absolutely love that I can wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee while listening to the waves crashing on the shore, then choose to spend my day either relaxing on one the numerous white sandy beaches, venturing up into the glorious mountain ranges, exploring the cultural museums and markets, or indulging in some of world’s most divine wines and delicious cuisine while being captivated by a stunning South African sunset.

Why I Love Travel

Travelling allows me to release that adventurous, passionate and inquisitive side of me, with a desire to experience it all – whether learning about a particular country’s history, their cultures, their languages, their traditions and rituals or just enjoying the unique beauty and special experiences each and every country in the world has to offer.

The beauty of travel is that there is no end – there is always another monument to visit, animal to see, culture to experience and land to explore - one never knows what might be around the next corner, and that is what makes travelling so (damn) exciting!

Where I Have Travelled

I have travelled vastly throughout South Africa, from camping expeditions along the West Coast and weekends away on the Whale Coast, to road-trips along the Garden Route, which included stops at George, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Mossel Bay, Nature's Valley and adventuring through the Tstisikamma Forest. The choice of activities and adventures within these areas is endless.

Venturing a little further, I have holidayed in Johannesburg and Sun City, and have the fondest memories of the most unforgettable adventures and diverse wildlife sightings in Pilanesberg National Park, Madikwe Private Game Reserve and the Kruger National Park (a family favourite since before I can remember). I have also completed epic hikes through the Drakensberg mountain range and have had my wanderlust regularly fueled by the beaches and small coastal towns of the Wild Coast.

Further afield than South Africa, I have been to multiple places in Zimbabwe such as Lake Kariba and the Victoria Falls. When I was younger, I was fortunate enough to explore parts of Tanzania as well as the beautiful island of Zanzibar and the culturally rich Stone Town. Enjoying the beach and watersports in Mauritius has also been a family favourite.

I have done my fair share of travels in England, Europe and Asia, too, the more prominent places being Palma, Majorca (where I sailed around the Mediterranean working on a luxury yacht) and Vietnam where I travelled and explored the country, teaching English along the way. Living in these countries and absorbing their cultures and unique beauty was life-changing but nothing has been able to keep me out of our awe-inspiring continent of Africa yet.

My Favourite Travel Moment

I have so many, one of which was on a family vacation to Zimbabwe – driving through the country and enjoying pitstops at rural towns and the few-and-far-between restaurants. We stopped at Imire where we were lucky enough to visit and feed two orphaned rhinos en route to a house boat on Lake Kariba. Not only was that an unforgettable experience on its own but to top it off, on arrival at the house boat, we were treated to the most surreal, tranquil and gorgeous sunset over the Lake Kariba while listening to the trumpeting of multiple herds of elephants and enjoying a G&T on deck.

What I Love about Africa

Africa holds an abundance of raw and natural beauty. The continent’s cultural diversity must be one of the greatest in the world - the numerous traditions and rituals of each culture is truly an exquisite sight to behold.

Whether exploring the cultural and historic cities throughout the continent, enjoying some of the best cuisine the world has to offer, viewing the Big 5 on a wild game drive in South Africa, experiencing the roar and spray of Victoria Falls, taking in the panoramic views of the Namibian desert, swimming in the salty sea off the shores of Mauritius, or hot-air ballooning in Kenya – one cannot deny that Africa is truly special.

Where I would Love to Go Next

Where not? I still have so many travel dreams including everything from 4x4íng and camping throughout the beautiful countries in Southern Africa, swimming the Indian ocean and indulging in the freshest seafood while exploring the un-spoilt beaches of Mozambique or experiencing a hot-air balloon trip, while enjoying breath-taking and panoramic views of Kenya.
