I’m Scottish by blood, born in London, but raised in Spain – I am fluent in both Spanish and English. My passions and interests lie in safaris, wildlife, photography, conservation, discovering wild places and going off the beaten track. I enjoy a good book, great company, a hearty laugh, and a glass of red wine to end the day.
The safari bug bit me on my very first trip to Botswana, and I've never looked back. For the last 16 years I have travelled extensively through southern and eastern Africa as well as curating travel itineraries to Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. If I ever go missing, you'll find me somewhere in Africa, sitting by a waterhole with my camera, in the company of elephants.
There are so many! I was once surrounded by a herd of 15 elephants who were calmly browsing the mopane trees while 3 very young calves were playing and chasing each other. At one point the matriarch came so close to my side of the safari vehicle that we were nearly eye to eye. We looked into each other’s eyes, and it was a truly humbling moment to see how this beautiful elephant trusted our presence amongst her family.
I love designing all sorts of safaris from multi-generational family trips and honeymoon safaris to groups of friends and solo travellers. One of my favourites was a lovely multi-gen family that I sent to Timbavati Game Reserve, to Hwange National Park, and on to a unique stay on a houseboat on the Chobe River, before stopping in at Vic Falls and ending in Cape Town. They loved the ‘path less travelled' aspects of their trip, specifically in Hwange where they got to experience a walking safari. I received a truly heart-warming email from them praising my knowledge and expressing how much they loved and appreciated the trip they had.
Another favourite trip I curated was for a more mature solo traveller who is an avid photographer. Her lifelong wish was to visit Africa and photograph African wildlife. This multi-country trip offered her the most memorable and diverse wildlife experiences and photographs! She was truly blown away.
Going on your first African trip may feel a bit overwhelming, but don't worry – we’re here to guide you! My suggestion is to spend more time in fewer places as this allows you to have richer experiences at each location. Choosing this approach, instead of a fast-paced tour of multiple destinations, gives you time to soak in and appreciate the wilderness, and is also the best way to enjoy the exceptional camps or lodges and unique activities that will make your journey a truly memorable one.
