Africa on Foot Lodge
Africa on Foot is located in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, which spans 13,000 hectares on either side of the majestic Klaserie River. It shares an unfenced border with several major reserves in the Greater Kruger Park, allowing wildlife to roam freely. As a Big 5 nature reserve, the lodge is renowned for its expertly guided walking safaris, bringing you up close to Africa's iconic wildlife. These safaris offer some of the most sought-after sightings, such as leopards and prides of lions.
A structured daily itinerary ensures optimal game viewing. The day begins with an early morning walking safari, where you can walk alongside daytime critters as the sun warms the savanna. Informative afternoon game drives culminate in sundowners in the tranquility of the reserve's untouched beauty. Honeymooners will enjoy booking a private sundowner experience for two on the banks of the river.
The lodge has something for everyone, from children to honeymooners. Little ones under the age of 16 can enjoy a morning game drive or a fun ‘bumble' through the bush instead of a walking safari. Couples will appreciate the romantic ambiance of a sleep-out stargazing experience in an elevated treehouse with panoramic views of the bush. Don't miss the Bush Bar, where drinks and conversation flow effortlessly.

Africa on Foot offers Family Chalets with two rooms, separated by a dividing wall to ensure privacy while keeping you close to your loved ones. Each room features the same facilities and furnishings as the single-room chalets, making it ideal for parents with children or groups of friends travelling together.
The chalets at Africa on Foot offer sublime comforts in a cosy living space. Lanterns scattered both inside and outside the chalet create a romantic ambiance, while a neutral colour palette reflects the tones of the bush. Each bed, whether configured as twin or double, is draped with a mosquito net offering an undisturbed night's rest.
A conveniently placed clothing rack allows you to unpack and make the space your own. Bedside tables with solar-powered lamps are perfect for late-night reading. En-suite bathrooms provide a cleansing retreat, with one chalet featuring an outdoor shower experience to rinse off after the day's activities. There are plug points in the room for charging your phone or camera.
You're spoilt for choice with two swimming pools: one inside the camp, surrounded by the vibrant energy of the lodge, and another in a remote location, perfect for a quiet afternoon dip. Africa on Foot Lodge is renowned for its unique bush bar experience, hidden in a clearing, away from the main lodge. It features a small boma area where you can enjoy drinks with friends and like-minded travellers.
Wi-Fi is available in the lounge area, near the library, and in chalets closest to the main lodge. This allows you to disconnect when out of range and truly immerse yourself in the tranquillity of the African bush.

We had the most fantastic time, better than I’d dreamed possible. Africa on Foot was lovely, the lodge staff were all extremely helpful and welcoming and the rangers were brilliant. We enjoyed some amazing game viewing, including lions and cubs feeding on an elephant carcass (we were lucky enough to watch them gradually devour it over a period of 3 days!). We didn’t get to see more than a glimpse of a leopard at Africa on Foot, but we had fantastic sightings of the rest of the big five.
Africa on Foot was a great first stop on the trip. It felt like staying with friends out in the bush. The food was good “home cooked” and our ranger was very friendly and knowledgeable. A great place to recommend for someone looking for a more “rustic” African experience.
I had the ultimate bush experience here, and the name says it all! The walks are truly incredible and the knowledgeable guides were an inspiration. This is my idea of a holiday in the wild!
I enjoyed the game drive even though i was not lucky enough to see the Big-5, I saw everything except the leopard and Cape bull.
Starting off at Africa on Foot and ending up at Ngala was perfect! Talk about one extreme to another – no electricity and basics at Africa on Foot. But the people were fabulous and the food quite good. I really enjoyed sleeping in the treehouse one night!
