Nestled on the shore of Lake Kariba, Changa Safari Camp is an intimate lodge in the jaw-dropping setting of Matusadona National Park in northern Zimbabwe. Blending into its surroundings with an unobtrusive charm created by the use of natural construction materials, the effect is laidback and blissfully unfussy.

Enjoy game drives and safari walks that offer excellent big game viewing and birding opportunities or cruise out onto the lake. Lazy afternoons are spent in a hammock or at the delightfully secluded pool that overlooks the water, while African fish eagles wheel and call in the blue sky above.

Deluxe Tent

The luxury canvas tented suites are spacious and thoughtfully furnished with an eclectic mix of hand-carved wood, exotic textures and fabrics with a unique and stylish flair. Floor-to-ceiling windows are insect proof but allow the outside ambiance to gently permeate the atmosphere with cooling breezes from the lake. Private verandahs offer a wonderful spot to soak in the atmosphere, while the en suite facilities include a delightfully romantic open-air shower and hot tub, perfect for a blissful soak surrounded by timeless beauty.

Family Tent

Families can enjoy the spacious comfort of the Family Tent, which comprises a main bedroom and a second smaller bedroom for children, essentially offering two deluxe tents interconnected by an inter-leading passageway. These family tents are equipped with both indoor and outdoor en-suite bathrooms, providing convenience and flexibility for all members of the family.

General Facilities

Elegantly constructed from a harmonious blend of wood, stone and thatch, the lodge seems to grow out of its surroundings, incorporating the lake and wilderness seamlessly with open, flowing spaces. The main buildings consist of a lounge and dining room that flow outwards over a vast deck towards the lake and the secluded swimming pool and fire pit area. Huge trees provide a shady retreat from the midday sun while cooling breezes drift off the water below.

Mornings begin with a freshly-brewed hot drink delivered to your door before a scrumptious continental breakfast is served in the dining room. Brunch or lunch is a relaxing affair with a delicious selection of fresh and wholesome dishes taken below the shady trees on the terrace. After an afternoon of poolside lounging, an invigorating high tea is served, featuring a delightful selection of sweet and savoury treats and titbits. Evenings are generally a convivial affair, with a wonderful 3-course meal served at the large dining room table surrounded by conversation and laughter or, if you choose, a romantic dinner à deux in starlit seclusion.
