Doro Nawas Camp
Located on a rocky outcrop in ruggedly beautiful Damaraland, Doro Nawas Camp is set on the floodplain of a small tributary of the Huab River. The unique lodge design allows for unspoilt panoramic views of this diverse and dramatic landscape through either the lodge’s large glass windows, its open roof-top terrace, or from your chalet’s verandah. Evenings are a spectacular event as you sleep out on your verandah under the star-filled sky. Guided game drives are an excellent opportunity to appreciate the spectacular views and desert scenery.
Game viewing concentrates on the wildlife found in the riverbed and along the valleys that sometimes fill with water in the rainy season – if you are lucky, you may see the rare desert-adapted elephant or black rhino. Another highlight is an expedition to nearby Twyfelfontein, home to renowned San art engravings and the largest collection of petroglyphs – prehistoric rock art – in Africa. The combination of Africa’s past and present makes for a fascinating visit.

One highlight was our first night at Doro Nawas Camp. We were the only guests and they set up the most lovely table for us in the courtyard by the fire. It was beautiful!! Then the next night we had a rooftop dinner under the stars!
Doro Nawas rooms were great. Food ok, staff was good but management did not seem on top of things like at other camps. They did put us at a special table BBQ night and gave us a bottle of wine in the room. Two nights also enough based on activities. We saw some elephants and 4 cheetah briefly.
It was surprisingly great too, especially the rooms and our guide.
Doro Nawas : very nice hotel. Professional staff, very good food.
