The exquisitely designed Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge provides a luxury safari experience in South Africa’s malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. Situated under a grove of tamboti and marula trees on the edge of the Marico River, the lodge makes the most of its position and offers spectacular views from the main building and each private suite.

Knowledgable rangers guide you through this Big 5 Kalahari environment and will introduce you to its magnificent wildlife but part of the Madikwe Hills experience is back at camp with a health spa and fully-equipped gym, curio shop, swimming pool, library and wine cellar on hand to enhance your stay. Moreover, this family-friendly lodge welcomes children over the age of 12 and will provide them with their own game viewing activities.

Luxury Suite

Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge accommodates a total of 24 guests. The main lodge offers ten standard suites while a private camp – Little Madikwe Hills – offers a 2-bedroomed suite for the ultimate in privacy and exclusivity.

The emphasis is on complete relaxation and comfort – soft sofas, mosquito nets, cotton picot linen, overhead fans, air-conditioning and a fully-stocked mini bar ensures that this is so. Each beautifully decorated suite is glass-fronted, has its own veranda and boasts a private plunge pool tucked into the surrounding boulders.

The main camp welcomes children over 12 years old while Little Madikwe, booked as a complete camp, accommodates children of all ages and has a child-minder permanently on hand if required.

Little Madikwe comes complete with its own Land Rover and game ranger as well as a personal butler to take care of your every need. A gourmet kitchen, chef and entertainment centre complete the picture.

Two additional standard suites can also be reserved to form a completely private safari camp for up to eight guests.

Facilities at Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge include a fully-equipped gym, a curio shop, swimming pool, library, internet access and wine cellar.

There is an on-site health spa that offers a wide range of wellness treatments and massages as well as facials and manicures.

Full English or buffet breakfasts are served after game drives each morning on the deck but the lodge likes to say that no two dinners will be the same.

From dining under the stars in the traditional African boma and candle-lit alfresco suppers in the bush to fine silver service dinners in the elegant dining room, expect fine cuisine accompanied by superb wines.

Private dinners are offered to couples who want to spend time together in the privacy of their own room or viewing deck.

    Madikwe Hills was a perfect start. We were really educated by our guide, Greg, and our tracker, Johannes. We nearly saw all the Big 5! We were also fortunate to see a rhino carcass that was poached (the horn was taken away by an anti-poaching team luckily) and it was incredible.

    Madikwe Hills – fabulous lodge with all of the perks. This lodge was an interesting contrast to Bukela. Both were very nice and wonderful experiences. But there was a very noticeable difference. The best analogy I can think of to compare them is that Madikwe is like a large chain store and Bukela is a mom and pop store. Both were very personal but Bukela was more quaint and homey while Madikwe had all of the luxury perks. I mentioned to the manager several times that I was impressed how not only he remembered the names of all of the guests, but every staff member as well, especially with the constant turnover of guests. Location was fantastic; we were treated to elephant shows right in front of our deck each afternoon!
