Maxa is an intimate and secluded camp embraced by the Kaza Transfrontier Conservation Area — a private conservancy located in the north-eastern region of Botswana's renowned Okavango Delta. Perched along its namesake, Maxa Lagoon, the camp offers front-row seats to witness hippos as they wade through the cool waters.
The region supports a variety of wildlife across diverse landscapes. Large herds of buffalo and plains game are commonly spotted grazing along the grassy floodplains, while hidden leopards can be glimpsed slinking through the dense riverine forests.
You'll explore the vast terrain on foot or in a game vehicle, with a trusted guide at your behest — ready to share with you the finer details of animal tracking. Seasonal canoeing excursions will see you navigating meandering river channels for a uniquely tranquil safari experience.
Birders will marvel at the kaleidoscopic display of avian life that clusters around the lagoon. Kingfishers are often spotted perched on tall reeds, building their nests away from the leering eyes of predators, while herons navigate the shallow waters with their slender legs, moving gracefully in search of food.
The camp's thoughtfully spaced-out common areas and private tents create an atmosphere of exclusivity, inviting you to hide away on your deck for romantic sundowners or to soak in the chatter of like-minded guests gathered around a fire with a beverage of choice.
