Ongava Tented Camp
Ongava Tented Camp is located in a 30 000-hectare private reserve that shares a boundary with Etosha National Park, Namibia’s premier wildlife destination. Situated in hill country in the centre of the reserve, the lodge is built out of rock, thatch and canvas and overlooks a waterhole that is floodlit at night.
Activities at Ongava Tented Camp revolve around professionally guided game drives in an open 4X4 in the Ongava Reserve – home to both black and white rhino – as well as the Okaukuejo area of Etosha where classic African mammals such as elephant, giraffe and zebra plus many antelope species are often seen in large numbers. It is also a region famous for its predators – lion and cheetah are relatively common – and you can also experience the thrill of night drives and nature walks in the private reserve, activities not allowed within Etosha itself.
As a guest of Ongava Tented Camp, you have access to the photographic hide at its sister property, Ongava Lodge.

Accommodation at Ongava Tented Camp consists of eight comfortable walk-in tents. Each one of these classic Meru-style tents has double doors to maximise your view of the waterhole in front of camp. They have been tastefully furnished with their own en suite bathrooms that include flush toilets, double vanities, and indoor and outdoor showers. As the day draws to an end, you can watch the sunset from the comfort of your private covered veranda.
There are six standard twin tents (each with two three-quarter beds), one double (with one queen-sized bed), and one family tent available at Ongava. The family tent consists of two bedrooms each equipped with two three-quarter beds plus their own bathrooms and entrances.
The main area of Ongava Tented Camp consists of a bar, lounge and dining area as well as a small swimming pool, all of which overlook a floodlit waterhole that attracts a wide range of animals including lion and rhino plus a multitude of bird species and antelope.

Ongava Tented Camp was great. It was rustic but fun, with a waterhole compared to none other.
The Wilderness Safari accommodations / staff / guides were great! One of our best places for animal viewing was Ongava Tented Camp. We sat amongst the pride of 22 lions while they were feeding on their giraffe kill.
