Overview

In January and February every year, about 400 000 baby wildebeest are born on the Serengeti’s southern plains during the Wildebeest Migration’s calving season. It is an astonishing spectacle and Serian’s Serengeti Mobile Camp based near Kusini is one of the best places to experience it.

This seasonal camp is set up from mid-December to May every year. With only six tents and a dedicated guide, spotter and vehicle at your disposal, you are able to enjoy the vastness of this pristine wilderness entirely at your own pace. Located in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park, one of the earth’s last natural migration corridors and oldest ecosystems, the climate, vegetation and fauna here have remained almost unchanged for a million years.

Enjoy classic Migration moments: mega herds traversing the plains in search of fresh grazing, with all the ensuing dangers of hazardous river crossings and lurking lions and cheetahs.

Witness the spectacles of birth and predator action on a comfortable safari in the care of specialist guides. Daily game drives bring you alongside the majesty and drama unfolding on the savannah.

Each of the Meru-style canvas suites are set apart for privacy, and to maximise your magnificent views of the Serengeti. Spacious and comfortably appointed, the suites offer large and soft beds draped in mosquito netting, small lounge areas and en suite bathrooms with flushing toilets and safari showers. There are four tents at Lamai and six at Kusini.

Facilities

At Serian’s Serengeti Mobile, the wildlife takes the primary focus of activities. Serian's Serengeti Mobile - Kusini

The very strong positive is that this is a very true and hard core safari experience. We saw tons of animals and nearly no other people – absolutely all you can wish for. The food was very good. Everyone loved the stay. We had a leopard walking betwe en the tents just after sundown and peeing on of our tents to mark his territory. We had also buffalos wandering through the camp at night and hyenas sleeping up against the tent!
