Overview of The Hide Lodge

Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park

Set in Zimbabwe’s flagship Hwange National Park, The Hide is a luxury safari camp with beautiful tented suites overlooking a much frequented waterhole. Hwange was once the royal hunting ground of the Ndebele kings and has long been known for its abundant and diverse wildlife. Named after the hide that overlooks the lodge’s waterhole, guests can get exceptionally close to the various animals coming down to drink.

Morning and afternoon game drives go in search of Hwange’s legendary big game, and guided bush walks and exciting night drives are also offered. The park is famous for its large herds of elephant and buffalo and Hwange is one of the best places in Southern Africa to see lion, leopard and African wild dog. Numerous other classic African mammals such as giraffe and zebra are easily seen in Hwange and over 400 bird species have been recorded.

The Hide offers delicious cuisine and places a specific emphasis on welcoming guests back to camp with a hearty breakfast after an early morning game drive.

The camp also takes pride in offering a variety of different mealtime settings: there is the option to dine around the giant teak table with other guests, or to take breakfast overlooking the waterhole. You can also enjoy sundowners in the bush and drinks around the camp fire.

    We are back home now and had a lovely trip to Africa. Whilst it was a low season and animals were quite scarce, we were able to spot some Lions and Cheetah's, Guess that was the highlight of Hwange National Park apart from umpteen numbers of Elephants and other animals. Guide David was amazing – I would say an encyclopaedia of animals, birds, insects and the history of Zimbabwe. The stay at Hide was fantastic
