Your journey begins in South Africau2019s most affluent city, Johannesburg, with a scheduled flight whisking you from OR Tambo International Airport to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. On landing, you will be warmly greeted for a private transfer to Lukimbi Safari Lodge u2013 roughly three hoursu2019 drive away u2013 where you will spend the following three nights.rnrnArriving at the lodge, take some time to settle into your comfortable African-style suite before the real adventure begins. The lodge is located on 15 000 hectares of private wilderness, and a skilled and knowledgeable game ranger will introduce you to this pristine portion of the famous Kruger National Park. When you are not searching for the Big 5 and other fascinating wildlife, you can enjoy relaxing treatments at the spa, dine under the stars or simply enjoy the sounds and sights of the wilderness from your secluded suite.
After an early morning game drive and a hearty breakfast at Lukimbi Lodge, you will be collected for your road transfer to Mozambique. The drive is approximately three hours and takes you to Maputo u2013 the iconic and historical capital city of Mozambique. At the harbour, a private boat is ready to sail you across tranquil Maputo Bay towards the Machangulo Peninsula. Machangulo Nature Reserve is a pristine and untouched wilderness home to exquisite beaches, golden dunes and lush coastal woodlands. On the other side of the peninsula are calm estuaries, beautiful mangrove forests, flamingos and other wildlife.rnrnThe beach portion of your vacation can be as active or relaxing as you like: explorers will relish the opportunity to sail out on a traditional dhow boat, snorkel, dive, explore the estuaries and visit Inhaca Island. Inhaca offers boat trips to the nearby and totally deserted Portuguese Island, and outings to the Marine Biology Museum or the Inhaca Lighthouse.rnrnMassages in a private sala on the beach, romantic candlelit dinners, village trips, picnics and lovely ocean-view suites complete the Machangulo experience.
On your final day in Mozambique you will depart from Machangulo and sail back across the bay to Maputo. From the harbour, a short road transfer takes you to Maputo International Airport where you will board a scheduled flight to OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
