Itinerary information

Upon arrival at Maun Airport, a Wilderness representative will be waiting to take you for a light aircraft transfer to your first three nights at Wilderness Jao Camp. As the camp is only accessible by air, you'll have the chance to catch a bird's-eye view of the vast Okavango channel before landing on a remote island paradise in the heart of the Delta.

Jao offers active safari expeditions, so on your first full day, engage in a guided walking safari to explore the breadth of this unique island ecosystem. Or, head out onto the tranquil waters for a canoeing safari around the island. Seasonal catch-and-release fishing affords you the chance to experience a more intimate camp activity. As a private slice of bush heaven, you'll have the opportunity to experience exclusive sightings of wetland wildlife such as the endangered sitatunga antelope or more common sightings of red lechwe prancing along the riverbanks. In the afternoons, indulge in a sumptuous bush picnic surrounded by the mesmerising grassy plains amidst the delightful chirps of nearby birds.

Back at camp, indulge in a pampering spa experience, tucked away in a discreet corner of the camp, sheltered by a glorious canopy of trees. In the evenings, set out in the cozy embrace of an open-air boma or simply enjoy a romantic dinner on your private deck. Rest easy in the sanctity of your twin tent lodgings, or for a unique experience, sleep out under the velvety African night sky in a Star Bed.

After breakfast, a light aircraft will transfer you to Wilderness Mombo for the next three nights of your safari tour. This luxury camp is discreetly hidden among a thicket of trees and cradled by a private concession in the popular Moremi Game Reserve. Here, you'll experience the thrill of tracking predators on private game drives or slow down the pace with an entire day of bird watching.

The reserve is well-known as a sanctuary for solitary leopards and large prides of lions. There are also frequent sightings of more endangered mammals such as black rhinos and white rhinos. You'll also get a chance to spot the lily-hopping African jacana wading along the riverbanks. A relaxed afternoon can be spent in the camp’s discreet photography hide, where patient guests can capture shots of unassuming wildlife. This experience is topped off by indulging in a soothing massage under the warmth of the African sun in the seclusion of your private deck's day bed.

A wrap-around deck, dotted with a soft lantern-lit ambiance, offers a romantic dining spot from which to enjoy endless panoramic views of the Delta floodplains. In addition, your tented suite connects you to the camp's main areas via raised wooden walkways.

The next day, a light aircraft will transfer you to Wilderness DumaTau for a final three nights of intimate safari adventures in Botswana's hidden gem, Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. Perched along the banks of the Osprey Lagoon, the camp offers a gateway to the aptly named ‘Kingdom of the Elephants,' as these larger-than-life mammals traverse the majestic Savuti Channel for fresh sips of water and bathing during the winter seasons.

Here, you'll be invited to partake in a number of diverse wilderness activities. Twice-daily game drives can be spent dedicated to seeking out animals such as sable antelopes and the rare African wild dog. Guided bush walks offer a more active way to explore the bush. The camp's proximity to the river's edge also provides plenty of opportunities for river cruises to see hippos cavorting in the water or engaging in fun-filled canoeing expeditions. Spotlit night drives are a not-to-be-missed experience, showcasing the reserve’s more nocturnal predators such as leopards.

After an exciting safari adventure, you're welcomed by communal relaxation areas that allow you to wind down without missing out on any wilderness sightings. Spend an afternoon on the expansive viewing deck with a delicious cocktail in hand, or in the early evening, settle in on the jetty for uninterrupted views of the sunset over the river next to the warmth of a firepit.
