Linyanti Ebony
The Linyanti Channel has a reputation among discerning safari goers as one of Botswana's top wildlife gems. Situated between the Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park and Namibia's verdant Caprivi Strip, Linyanti is a breath-taking water habitat fed by a permanent river system. At the heart of a private reserve lies Linyanti Ebony, a camp consisting of only four tents where guests can indulge in fantastic game viewing and superb bird watching, especially of raptors.
Although Linyanti is a year-round destination, it is at its best from June to October when animals migrate from the drier outer areas to take advantage of the water here, which also allows you to enjoy mokoro (dugout canoe) trips. Fly in from the Saile Airstrip and set off in an open 4×4 for game drivers or lift off in a helicopter for an awe-inspiring aerial tour of the area.
Back at camp, revel in being detached from the outside world as you slip into the rhythm of safari. After morning game drives and delectable buffet lunches, while away the afternoon at the plunge pool or on a nature walk to seek out more ‘ticks' on your birding list. The entire camp can be reserved on an exclusive-use basis for extended families or large groups.

The fourth tent is larger and is suitable for families or honeymooners. Its bathroom has a bathtub for decadent soaking after a long nature walk.
At Linyanti Ebony, there is a careful balance between providing a luxurious guest experience and maintaining the down-to-earth wholesomeness of the bush. The emphasis is firmly on experiencing the Linyanti Channel via mokoro rides and helicopter flips. A ‘digital detox' is guaranteed as there is no Internet or cellphone coverage but there is solar power and a recharging station for camera equipment. Linyanti Ebony has a plunge pool and a complimentary laundry service.
Younger guests can be taken under the wings of the trained staff of the Ngwana Club to learn more about conservation and be entertained with all sorts of crafts. ‘Ngwana’ means ‘explorer’ in the Tswana language, and your children will explore village schools, nature trails and even safe waterways on boat outings.

Meals are taken communally at Linyanti Ebony so that all 10 guests can get to know each other and share their tales of the bush. Tuck into delicious meals with whimsical touches like crocodile-shaped bread! The chef is able to accommodate food preferences, such as gluten intolerance, in the daily menu.

‘Enjoyed Botswana for the variety and true wild experience – the sounds and proximity of wildlife at night near the tent was very interesting and a little unnerving but loved it. Staff were great, food was good, not as much wildlife as Kruger but still enjoyed it. Not enough rain this year. Helicopter ride was great. All in all. it was truly the trip of a lifetime and we highly recommend it.’
