Remote Tanzania Safari & Private Island
Embark on a captivating 7-night journey through Tanzania’s wilderness & coast, combining the best of both worlds. Begin your adventure with two nights at Siwandu, an exquisite safari camp in the heart of the Nyerere National Park (previously Selous). Here, you’ll witness the Big Five and experience boat safaris along the Rufiji River – something unique for Tanzania.
After your stay at Siwandu, venture deeper into the wild with two nights at Jongomero, a remote and luxurious camp in Ruaha National Park. Ruaha is celebrated for its rugged landscapes and diverse wildlife, providing a perfect complement to your Nyerere experience.
Following your Tanzanian wildlife adventure, indulge in three nights of pure island bliss at the idyllic Fanjove Private Island. Immerse yourself in the serene palm-fringed shores, where your days can be spent swimming, lounging, snorkelling, sailing, kayaking, and savoring the tranquil amenities.
Together, these exceptional destinations offer an unforgettable experience of Tanzania’s untamed beauty. Be far removed from daily life as you relax in the heart of the African wilderness.
When you book this safari Go2Africa will donate $5 to the VETA Hotel and Tourism Training Institute to support the annual sponsorship of two students.
All the flights were on time, all the transports were waiting for us as planned and were very friendly and professional, so all the coordination on your end was really terrific. We loved both Ras Kutani and the Siwandu safari resort. We were treated very well in both places. The managers and staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The accommodations were lovely and quite comfortable. The beach was great, and the safari outstanding.
Your thrilling safari adventure begins when you arrive in Tanzania at Dar Es Salaam Airport. Meet your representative, transfer to a domestic airport and hop on a short-haul flight to Siwandu, your home for the next three nights. Ideally located in the spectacular Nyerere National Park, this is the perfect base from which to explore Tanzania’s least known yet wildest game reserve.
Spend the coming days going on game drives to see the great elephant herds and visiting the Rufiji River, the largest river in East Africa and home to the largest crocodile and hippo populations on the continent. After enjoying thrilling river safaris and bush walks, return to the camp to relax.
Siwandu is located within an open palm forest on the shores of Lake Nzerakera, giving you the opportunity to sit on your veranda and watch the sun set over the beautiful surrounding landscape.

After breakfast, transfer to the bush airstrip for your flight to Ruaha National Park. Here you will be met by a representative who will transfer you to Jongomero Camp.
Spend your time going on game drives, exploring the river and identifying the many different bird species. Experience a delicious bush dinner or picnic lunch while observing the magnificent hippos frolicking in the river.
Enjoy the rest of your leisure time in the camp, relaxing in the natural rock pool. Your nights are spent in comfortable thatched tents with their own viewing decks.
A last early morning breakfast and transfer to the airstrip concludes the safari portion of your trip, but a private island beach experience awaits!
After a quick layover in Dar es Salaam, you fly to Songo Songo Island airstrip via Mafia Island—a 45-minute flight. On arrival, you'll hop onto a tuk tuk taking you to the jetty from where you sail over to Fanjove Private Island.
This idyllic, eco-friendly paradise is found on the Songo Songo Archipilago, just off the coast of mainland Tanzania. The palm-lined island is only 1 kilometre long (0.62 miles) and 400 metres (1312ft) wide, with a limited capacity to ensure an intimate stay.
In contrast to the structured, adventure-filled days on safari, your days on Fanjove slow down the pace and let you ease into true relaxation and rejuvenation. Relax on the beach with a book, dipping into the sparkling ocean now and then; enjoy fresh meals and ice-cold drinks, go for strolls on the island, grab a mask and snorkel to experience the underwater life or hop on a kayak to explore the coastline.
After two full days in paradise, it's time to head back home or continue on your journey. As you got to the island, you'll return to the Songo Songo island airstrip for your flight back to Dar es Salaam Airport, where your safari adventure will come to an end.
