Equipping Tanzanian Youth for Employment in Tourism

The VETA Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (VHTTI)-Njiro is a training facility overseen by Tanzania’s Vocational Educational and Training Authority (VETA) and located in the Njiro suburb of Arusha. Established in 2011, the training courses offered by VHTTI-Njiro are broken into:

  • Rooms Division
  • Food and Beverage Services/Sales
  • Culinary Arts
  • Tour Guiding and Travel Operations

The training courses can be in the form of short course training, or longer courses that can lead to securing diplomas or certificates.

VHTTI-Njiro also owns a three-star hotel, which apart from being used as a facility for students’ practical training, it also offers accommodation and conference facilities for workshops, seminars, and meetings to external guests.

VHTTI-Njiro strives to deliver effective training programs to equip Tanzanian youth with the right skill sets to find employment in the tourism sector, or to encourage entrepreneurship.

Go2Africa’s Partnership with VHTTI-Njiro

Go2Africa has pledged to donate $5 to the VHTTI-Njiro for every trip booked with us that includes a night at one of our selected Tanzanian partners*. We commit to donate at least $2,000 in our 2023 financial year, which will sponsor two students for the upcoming academic year.

* These 6 Tanzania lodge partners have been selected based on their investment in community, environment and wildlife projects: Asilia Africa, Chem Chem Safaris, Gibbs Farm, Legendary Expeditions, Sanctuary Retreats, Selous Safari Camps.
