Overview

Spend seven wonderful days in two of Zambia's most rewarding safari destinations, Victoria Falls and South Luangwa National Park.

Kick off with an authentic encounter with the mighty Zambezi River at the owner-run and service-orientated Chundukwa River Lodge. Set in a beautiful location on the banks of the Zambezi, only 25 kilometres / 15 miles from the bustling town of Livingstone, Chundukwa seamlessly blends privacy and tranquillity with easy access to the biggest waterfall on Earth, the titanic Victoria Falls. Experience the magical Zambezi and the wildlife that relies on this colossal river for its very existence on boat excursions, photographic explorations or simply taking in the incredible sights and beautiful sunsets. Chundukwa also offers a large stable of horses for all levels of riders. This unique activity is a marvellous way to explore the Zambezi River Valley and its riverine forests.

Conclude your Zambian safari at a luxurious lodge that elephants visit every year to feast on the fruit of the wild mango trees. Mfuwe Lodge is within easy reach of Mfuwe Airport in the wonderfully wild South Luangwa National Park. South Luangwa is the birthplace of guided walking safaris and the best place in Africa to experience the thrill of walking through big game country. You can also get up close to animals like giraffe, elephants and many predator species on daily game drives through the verdant South Luangwa Valley. After a day in the bush, retreat to Mfuwe's comfortable veranda, iced drink in hand, and perhaps take a refreshing splash in the large swimming pool.

Itinerary information

Welcome to Zambia! Chundukwa River Lodge will be your home for the next few days, a tranquil retreat on the banks of the Zambezi River. Although the lodge is located close to Livingstone, it is far enough from the town's bustling streets and markets to provide you with a peaceful stay in supreme privacy. Chundukwa's rooms are built on stilts among riverine trees with private views of the Zambezi, thanks to its unique open-fronted layout. The décor and furniture have been tastefully handmade from recycled wood, metal and sustainable reeds.

Being situated about 25 kilometres / 15 miles from Livingstone means that you have easy access to this historical town's colourful markets and, of course, the colossal Victoria Falls. Chundukwa is the only lodge in the Livingstone area that offers a private guide and private vehicle to visit the Falls. This means no set time departures and no waiting for the late risers – you are free to experience and explore the world's biggest waterfall and its surrounding attractions at your leisure. Other activities like sunset boat cruises on the Zambezi and horseback safaris through gorgeous riverine forests are not to be missed.

Two incredible spots in Zambia: Victoria Falls and the wildlife-packed South Luangwa. Mfuwe Lodge is famous for its elephants strolling through the lobby, which is just amazing to see if you're lucky. Then there's Chundukwa – laid-back luxury on the Zambezi River's banks.
