Kenya's Big Five, Ol Pejeta & Mara
Your incredible 7-day safari encompasses three of Kenya's best wildlife areas, where you fly from Nairobi National Park to the Laikipia Plateau and then on to the fabled Masai Mara. A safari in Kenya is an awe-inspiring adventure that takes you deep into the heart of Africa's wildlife wonders.
Begin your journey in Nairobi with a refreshing overnight stay at an airport hotel. Freshen up and relax at the restaurant or pool, or head into the city to explore. Continue to Porini Rhino Camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia, where Big 5 game drives are supplemented by a visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, where you can interact with these intelligent creatures.
Finally, you fly to the rolling plains of the Masai Mara, scene of the Great Migration in season and home to a tremendous variety of big game. An ideal trip to make the best of the wildlife wonders that Kenya has to offer, this journey will appeal to experienced safari hands and newcomers alike.
When you book this safari Go2Africa will donate $5 to the Wildlife Tourism College of Maasai Mara to support the annual sponsorship of two students.
Your guide will meet you at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and take you across on a short drive to Four Points By Sheraton Nairobi Airport Hotel. The best part is that there is no long drive, and you’ll be checked into your hotel room, ready to have a relaxing hot shower, in very little time at all.
After settling in and freshening up, you might head to the restaurant for a bite to eat or to the swimming pool to while away a few hours on a lounger. Depending on what time you arrive, you might have time to book a half day tour of some of Nairobi’s sights!
Depart Four Points Nairobi Airport Hotel after breakfast and head for Wilson Airport, where a charter flight waits to take you to Nanyuki airstrip. Your guide meets you there and takes you for a game drive into the Ol Pejeta Conservancy where Porini Rhino Camp is located. Hidden in a secluded valley overlooking a seasonal river, this intimate lodge boasts stunning views of Mount Kenya looming in the distance. After settling into your suite, you wander over to the mess area for a delightful high tea before climbing into your vehicle for the afternoon's game drive.
This region is famed for its dense concentration of wildlife that includes the Big 5, and the possibility of encountering herds of buffalo and elephants in the wonderful light of the early evening is richly rewarding, while finding lions dozing in the shade before their nightly hunt is a thrilling experience. You will also have the opportunity to visit Kenya’s only chimp sanctuary. Soaking in the beauty of the landscape and all its attendant aromas of brush, earth and dust, you feel a kind of homecoming, as if this place has been waiting for you all along. Herds of antelope graze the grasslands; giraffe wander like sentinels in the background and birds of prey swoop through the sky above.
The last leg of your journey takes you to the fabled Masai Mara. You will spend two nights at Porini Lion Camp. Located in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, this intimate and eco-friendly camp offers a unique blend of luxury and sustainability. The spacious and tastefully designed tents provide a comfortable and stylish retreat, with en-suite bathrooms and private verandas that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
The camp’s commitment to conservation is evident in its eco-friendly practices, from solar power and composting toilets to community involvement, ensuring that your stay not only offers a remarkable safari experience but also supports the preservation of the local environment and communities.
One of the standout features of Porini Lion Camp is the exclusive wildlife encounters it provides. Being situated in a private conservancy means you have access to a vast expanse of land, teeming with a diverse array of wildlife. With the absence of mass tourism and limited number of guests, Porini Lion Camp ensures an authentic and immersive safari experience where you can truly connect with nature and create lifelong memories of Kenya’s magnificent wildlife.
After a hearty breakfast, you will be transferred for your onward travel arrangements. Till next time Africa!
