Overview

Experience two of East Africa’s most iconic safari destinations—Uganda and Kenya—on this unforgettable journey. From the misty hills and rainforests of Bwindi, where rare mountain gorillas roam, to the game-rich savannahs of Kenya’s Masai Mara, this itinerary combines thrilling wildlife encounters with a commitment to conservation. With scenic flights connecting each destination, you’ll enjoy seamless travel and breathtaking aerial views along the way.

Starting in Uganda, you’ll trek through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. Beyond the trek, explore the local community and surrounding trails, relax with panoramic views, and unwind after your adventure. From Uganda, fly to Kenya’s renowned Lewa Wildlife Conservancies. Here, you’ll encounter rare species like black rhino and Grevy’s zebra and enjoy activities beyond traditional game drives—think camel trekking, cultural visits, and even scenic flights over the plains. End off in the iconic Masai Mara where daily game drives and walking safaris get you up close to big game such as lion, elephant, cheetah, and more.

This tour is perfect if you seek luxury accommodation, expert guiding, and uncrowded game-viewing with a meaningful conservation focus. It offers a deeper understanding of how preserving Africa's wildlife relies on the combined efforts of local communities, lodges, travel specialists and travellers alike. For the ultimate journey, consider pairing it with a beach escape to Zanzibar or the Seychelles.

Enjoy a final morning at Erebero, soaking in the breathtaking views before a drive back to the airstrip for your flight to Entebbe. From there, board your next flight to Kenya's bustling capital, Nairobi. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, clear customs and exit the arrivals area where your driver will be waiting. You'll then transfer across the city to Wilson Airport, a regional hub, to catch a light aircraft flight to Lewa Downs Airstrip. Upon landing, a guide will greet you and drive to the stunning Lewa Wilderness Lodge where you'll stay for three nights.

With its prime position within the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy at the base of Mount Kenya, Lewa Wilderness is a sanctuary for some of Kenya's rarest and most remarkable wildlife, including the striking Grevy’s zebra and the critically endangered black rhino. The lodge is centred on the original family farmhouse—a testament to a legacy of conservation dating back to the 1920s. The family remains deeply involved in protecting the area's wildlife, restoring black rhino populations, and empowering local communities.

Beyond the classic game drives, Lewa Wilderness offers a range of unique and immersive activities. Explore the landscape on horseback or camelback, take a scenic flight in a vintage biplane for a bird's-eye view of the conservancy, or spend a night under the stars with a fly-camping experience. Hike to the picturesque Ngarendare waterfalls for a refreshing swim, visit the Il' Ngwesi village for a meaningful cultural exchange, or join the anti-poaching unit and their loyal canine team to witness firsthand the vital work being done to protect Kenya's rhino population.
