Overview

This incredible 10-day itinerary showcases some of Tanzania’s best wildlife destinations: the Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti. The focus of the journey is on conservation and community in these remote and untouched wilderness areas.

Your first night will be spent at Tanzania’s largest coffee plantation before you head off to Oliver’s Camp in the Tarangire National Park. You will learn all about conservation efforts for lion populations and spend your days on game drives and walking safaris - immersing yourself into the untamed wilds of Africa.

You then move on to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you will be enveloped in luxury at The Highlands. The lodge is on the edge of the mountain forest that borders the Olmoti volcano, and it is here that you will meet and engage with the Maasai tribe, one of the most famous tribes on the continent. The last leg of your journey takes you to Namiri Plains, a luxury tented camp that is an area that was once closed to restore cheetah populations - you will enjoy some of the best predator sightings in East Africa.

Day 7-9: Cheetah Conservation in the Serengeti, Namiri Plains Camp, Serengeti, Tanzania | 3 Nights

Up arrow
Serengeti, Tanzania

A road transfer takes you on the last leg of your conservation and community safari in Tanzania, to Namiri Plains Camp in the renowned Serengeti. Namiri Plains is located in a remote Eastern corner that was once closed to create a safe haven for the cheetah population to grow. This is undoubtedly big cat country, and the camp is tucked away in a grove of fever trees.

One of the many highlights you will enjoy at Namiri Plains Camp is spending an evening with a Serengeti Cheetah Research Project researcher, who monitors the demographics of between fifty to eighty cheetahs in the area, one of the last few remaining natural ecosystems where cheetah exist in viable numbers.

You will not only have the chance to see and learn about the cheetahs of the Serengeti but also encounter the likes of lions, wildebeest herds and a plethora of wildlife out on game drives, or even from the comfort of your own luxury room – this is untamed Africa.
