Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is only a 3-hour drive from Cape Town. Gondwana Family Lodge has 12 rooms in total, the family rooms have a very comfortable sleeper couch. The rooms all have air conditioning, underfloor heating, a private mini-bar, a private deck or balcony, tea and coffee-making facilities, an electronic safe and an international dial telephone. Each child receives a backpack with kids on safari caps and badges, as well as an interactive safari book and crayons. The lodge itself is fenced off so safe to walk around at night. They have a kids’ menu for all meals, and dinner is served earlier so that kids can get to bed. There is a large communal pool with a shallow section for kids. There is a Kids Club with a play area to entertain younger kids who cannot go on safari. Other lodges on the reserve are Dwyka Tented Lodge which is not child-friendly and Tilney Manor which closed during Covid and is due to reopen in December.

We had the most amazing trip. We managed to fit so much in and are now back home for a rest! All went well with car and Sanbona was fantastic. We saw many animals and each game drive was a thrill. The accommodation was stunning and worked very well for our family needs.
