Your journey reaches a thrilling peak with a visit to Mount Gahinga Lodge, in the shadow of the Virunga Volcanoes. Loved it! Beautiful, spacious and character-filled rooms. One of the few places they would bring you coffee/ tea in the morning with your wake-up call – so nice to enjoy your morning coffee on your verandah with sweeping views of the surroundings. The staff were warm, professional and personal and the food was excellent – highly recommend it. If possible, a three-night stay would be ideal to take advantage of all the activities the lodge has to offer as well as game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park. All guests can plant a tree, which was very special.
Spend two unforgettable nights at Kyambura Gorge Lodge, a luxurious retreat perfectly positioned on the edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Your journey begins with a transfer from your hotel to Entebbe Airport, where a representative will assist with your domestic flight to Kasese airstrip. Upon arrival, your expert guides will greet you, sharing fascinating insights as you travel through the stunning landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the two-hour drive, stop at the Rwenzori Sculpture Foundation, a unique cultural collaboration supporting young Ugandan artists. On your first afternoon, engage with the Kyambura beekeeping cooperative and learn the art of honey harvesting, or take a tranquil evening walk to the Kyambura wetlands to spot birds, monkeys, and other wildlife.
Your second day begins with an early bush breakfast overlooking the park, followed by an exhilarating trek along the Fig Tree Trail and into the Kyambura Gorge. Here, search for the ‘Lost Chimps of Kyambura' as they move through the dense canopy in this striking contrast to the surrounding grasslands.
