Winchester Hotel – 10 stars – really good start to the trip, great location and free shuttle to V&A Waterfront was helpful.
Arrive at Cape Town International Airport and collect your rental car. An easy drive will find you in Cape Town’s Seapoint neighbourhood, and along trendy Seapoint promenade to Winchester Boutique Hotel.
Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the hotel has easy access to several major attractions as well as the city centre. The popular city beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton are a short drive away, as is the ever-popular V&A Waterfront but the hotel is also right on the sea-facing promenade, a favourite spot for lazy evening walks or a scenic early morning run.
Your Africa Safari Expert can tailor your stay, whether you choose a tandem-paragliding flight off Lion’s Head to soar over the ridges of the Twelve Apostles mountain range and glistening sands of Camps Bay, to a soft-grass landing on Sea Point Promenade; or less physically taxing but with equal brio, a journey to Cape Point, the extreme south-western tip of the African continent, to witness the ancient coming together of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.
Centrally located on the Sea Point promenade
Close to city, beaches, V&A Waterfront & Table Mountain

Our two nights in Franshoek was great too, and again another lovely hotel. What I liked about that hotel was the service including a WhatsApp service you can ask for anything on and the shuttle service they provided.
After breakfast, set off for Franschhoek in the heart of the Cape Winelands and settle into your suite at the elegant Franschhoek Country House & Villas.
One of South Africa’s oldest towns, Franschhoek was established over 300 years ago by French Huguenots, and is today acknowledged for its beauty and style, as well as for being the foodie capital of the country. Glide through picturesque vineyards and breath-taking scenery on the spectacular 45-minute drive from Cape Town. Art galleries and cafes line its streets, and Franschhoek is at its best when explored on foot, with its pristine natural beauty and unspoilt Cape Dutch architecture evoking the Cape’s storied history.
The Monneaux Restaurant at the Franschhoek Country House is a culinary destination in itself. Unwind at the hotel’s intimate treatment room and pamper yourself with a full body massage, and then enjoy a cocktail in the lounge before dinner. With its signature dishes an inspired fusion of Mediterranean and Cape Malay flavours paired with the wines of the Franschhoek Valley, you have much to look forward to.
After a delicious buffet breakfast overlooking the lawns of the hotel and with its manicured herb garden, climbing roses, lavender bushes and lemon trees offering a wonderfully scented start to your day, set off in search of the perfect wine for your palate. The Stellenbosch and Paarl wine routes are both within an easy half-hour’s drive of Franschhoek. Enjoy leisurely wine tasting and light lunches in dappled sunlight under tall oaks or delve into cellars sunken into hillsides. With its winemaking tradition eloquently blending the Old World with the New, you will find South African wineries surprisingly accessible, each charming estate a producer of internationally recognised varietals that more than welcomes visitors.
